Bebe has taken an absolute panning for his "performance" tonight.

Didn't actually think he was the worst player on the pitch. Aside from his brutally terrible shot, he actually looked improved from the last few times I've seen him.

Obertan on the other hand...what were we thinking?!

Neither will ever be a United player, but hey, at least we helped some peeps out ;)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Apparantly he tried to pass the ball next to the linesman, the only reason anyone can guess he tried to do it was because he saw a Utd shirt in the crowd

Some interesting theories out lately about the Bebe transfer. The Guardian ran a piece about the agent being involved and that it was a bit shady. But others are mentioning that Bebe was offered to PSV for free a few weeks before Utd went in for him. Suddenly he was signed by Utd for £7m despite Ferguson, for the first time in 36 years, not having watched the player live or watched a video. And that the agent also had quite a good cut out of the Bebe transfer.

That's £7m for a player who was offered to another team for free weeks earlier, who didn't really have any footballing experience and hasn't exactly showed much promise since he arrived.

But the most interesting point? Bebe's agent is the same as De Gea's. Not that anyone is suggesting that if Utd signed Bebe and give the agent some good money, he'll sort out the De Gea transfer for Utd. Certainly not.

;)

Regarding the Ferguson vid of him trying to ban the reporter, I am and I'm not surprised it's not been mentioned by the United fans here. If Rafa had said that, you'd all have been in the Liverpool thread and accusing him of cracking up etc. Yet it seems to have been glossed over by your lot? You don't think it's a tad embarrassing for someone of his age and experience to act?

Just saw this as well:

That's shocking :SHAKE: Hopefully she'll get it sorted and be allowed back in, a completely shoddy way of treating a fan.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So it's clearly 'lets harp on about negative United things' o'clock, but fine, I'll bite.

1. Bebe also narrowly missed a headed goal, had one cracking shot and played generally good built up play for someone that as far as I know has never played as a CF. He's not great. His pass to the linesman was a mistake as he tried a trick. He's a 20 year old that has never had formal football training, can't expect much tbh.

2. His agent is not just De Gea's, but more importantly Jose Mourinho's. I doubt very much we'd do a 7m euro favour for a potentially good goalkeeper (this was last summer obviously) but we would probably do that for the second best coach in the world.

3. SAF is an embarrassment at times. Given his 'elder statesman' position, it would be lovely for him to behave like one occasionally. The thing that gets me is that 95% of the time he's great - articulate, composed and sensible - but then the other 5% he's almost a parody of himself.

That said, they started the press conference by saying the Giggs thing would not be mentioned, and not to ask any questions about it. And of course, 10 minutes later an up-themselves journalist decides to ask about it. Because the public deserve to know dammit!

In the same way that every major news source in the UK led with Giggsy skipping training yesterday as evidence of his poor mental state, only to then realise it might be because he was playing in the testimonial in the evening.

If I were in Fergie's position, I'd want to slap a good number of the 'journalists' in the country too.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The journalist didn't mention the Giggs affair though, did he? Wasn't it just a question along the lines of whether he'll be ready to play on Saturday?

Technically yes, he asked how Giggs was doing ahead of the weekend. But come on, everyone knows what he was really asking. It's hardly veiled.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

money destroyes football, nothing new or shocking there..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Nobody excited about this then?

Cracking signing.

About De Gea, Most have mentioned it before and expected it, great potential but then he's only 20 years old and could lack experience but he was definitely the best option out their.

The way the fan was treated is disgusting really, but then again they own the club and they can do what they want, just a shame really.

Regarding Bebe well, is something fishy going on? Maybe but at the end of the day we'll never know.

EDIT :
I'd love for this have some legs http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6951083,00.html

He could basically play the Giggs role in midfield, could play further forward on the left, right and even through the middle.

I just don't see Nasri as a United-type of player. I know he's had a good year, but I can't see it.

Love to be proved wrong, but I think Ashley Young is our new right footed left winger. Which is good for the squad, but obviously not quite world class.

The real worry is that with De Gea, Young and maybe this French defender, Fergie has once again forgotten about central midfield. Can't see us having much let in the pot after that kind of spending!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Not trying to sugar coat it or anything, but its Ferguson, as someone said above, there are times when he's just dumb and doesn't behave normally. (I can see he was trying to protect Giggs especially before an important match, but he could've been smarter about it).

As for the fan, sadly, money destroys football. Hate Glazer, and for this reason, people will hate him more. If I were him, I'd let them do it cause (just like the gold and green campaign) once Man Utd win, some problems seem to disappear...

And excited about De Gea, but he's still young, and hard to know what to expect...we completely screwed up Barthez, so you never know...we are always better with goalkeepers who already know what to do before they join us...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Just tried downloading the Imogen sex tape ..... PC keeps freezing, says the file is 11 giggs

 What a crap joke Jonney.

How much do we have to spend? No one but Fergie knows so with that said 1 signing done in De Gea and its a big name signing worth 20M. Not sure how anyone can complain :SS

EDIT : http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/25/manchester-united-summer-transfer-budget?CMP=twt_gu

:)) Ronaldo and Iniesta expected next.

He'll be a United player come start of the season.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

arsenal will get relegated if nasri goes to man utd and fabregas to barca..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So, do you guys think that Sir Alex might retire if he wins the CL? (to end his career on a high note).

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think he stated last week that he's going to stay regardless of the CL result?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Not a chance in hell.

He'll keep on going till he can't anymore, he realised he had made a mistake when he was preparing to retire before and he won't make it again.

Besides, this team is on the verge of another transition with VDS, Scholes, Giggs all retiring in the near future and he'll want to see the job through.

One more pillar to knock down on our friends from down the road.

If he wins the CL, then he'll equal the great Bob Paisley's record of three wins for one manager BUT we'll still be a cup behind Liverpool and effectively equal with them. (19-4 v 18-5).

He won't go until he's at least got level I don't think (unless his health/desire fails him first).

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't think our Liverpool friends will like this, but its Ferguson's personal goal to make Manchester United the best team in all aspects in the history of England. So now that he's overtaken them in the league, it will be CL next. Maybe after that he'll retire...or he'll feel that its another transition and want to keep on going...

I just don't see him retiring at all...haha

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't think Fergie is that obsessed with over turning any records per se, I just think he wants to win. Every morning of every day when he wakes up he wants to win at whatever it is he does that day.

He'll retire if he becomes ill. I genuinely don't think he'll go before then. He's a freak of nature.
