Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Good first half performance, some good stand out performances

giggs has been fantastic this game, passing, tackling, dribbling, hopefully keeps it up second half.

bit worrying for jones off but hopefully its just a minor knock

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Bloody hell, didn't see that coming. Great result.

But...

Jones out for 6 weeks is the word on the waves, and Young too...means more Park :( !

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What a performance.

The quick passing is back after going misses since the first couple of games, we played some beautiful stuff.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It's odd - but I think Welbeck might be our most important player at the moment. I've no idea what it is about the lad, but when he plays we really...dunno, work.

He is rarely wasteful, fast and reasonably powerful - that seems to be all we need in a striker. Plus he's a local lad, which makes it that little bit sweeter.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Having Carrick fit again is a big plus for us.
I know he gets a fair bit of stick at times, but give him a little bit of time on the ball and he makes things work for us. Him & Jones in the middle looked very promising in recent weeks. They also seem to have a similar read of the game a la Rio & Vidic (knowing when to push up & when to drop deep).

How many injuries do we have now? It's ridiculous...
Hopefully young Fryers will get a bit of playing time in the next couple of games, along with Pogba (anyone but Gibson basically!).

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Thought fulham played poor, been a tough place to go for past few seasons but didnt seem to be arsed at all last nite.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'd rather Gibson than Park in the middle again

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Agree. Park has been woeful all season. He only seems to play well against Arsenal really...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Were really down to the bare bones now, I can see some of the strikers being spread out as much as possible, Welbeck wide? Rooney in the midfield?

Are Rafael an Fabio back yet?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Rafael played for the reserves today I believe - and came through unscathed. Would be great to get him back just to let Smalling go back into the middle. But doubt he'll be back for Wigan, so likely Valencia at RB again methinks.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I have to give it to United, they just have the ability to win, it is crazy. It is admirable, if we were in the same position as united with the makeshift midfield we would struggle completely, but United just have a knack, it's incredible really.

Fergie is simply ridiculous. Our squad isn't that good, and half of it is broken. For some reason the press never give United any credit, or talk much about the fact that we're missing Vidic, Cleverley, Anderson, Rafael, Ferdinand and Jones - all of whom would probably start a match if fit.

Whatever, currently the press are wetting themselves over how good a City squad that cost more than almost every other team put together is. Hardly shocking to me, but what do I know.

You forgot about young and fletcher also

but the fulham result did surprise me, all the stats before hand and to which we're down to really thin squad

i just hope we bring in a few additions january or give game time to some of the youths

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think the press do give SAF plenty of credit though and let's face it, he's the one who deserves it! Cuz like you said, the United squad are honestly hardly world beaters and at the moment badly decimated anyway and yet what's happening, win after win, goal after goal, the ability that bobby's talking about which is purely the winning mentality and perfectionist attitude of SAF himself that he's successfully managed to DEEPLY ingrain and instill in the DNA of Manchester United football club. Every current player, every player coming through... every staff member! They're been trained to WIN! And just win! simple as that.

For me, it's all about Sir Alex Ferguson. He's the one media should be applauding and he certainly isn't under-rated. He DOES get all the accolades and all the recognition he deserves and rightly so.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Jonesy will be back on monday night! The kid is built like a rock...I worry about Dempsey's elbow now...has it been dislocated yet?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well, don't know what to say really. When I saw the teamsheet I thought we'd really be up against it, but even with all 11 men we absolutely bossed Wigan. No idea why Dowd sent off Sammon - never a red for me. No appeal from our players either. He's just sh*t methinks.

Good for Berba, that's 4 in 2 games now.

So, halfway through the season and despite not having a midfield, having our best CB partnership play 3 times in the whole year and a host of injuries, we're on track for 90 points.

Just hope Fergie doesn't see the last few results and really think we don't need a midfield...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Berbacool.

Love it when he starts scoring for fun. I reckon he should start more game when we're playing at home.

Agree. Much prefer the partnerships of Berba/Roon; Welbeck/Roon over Hernandez.

Personally think the lil Mexican is best as a sub. Doesn't quite have the whole package, and teams seem to have sussed his game a bit this season. Whereas the other 3 all have the total package for forward player.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Hernandez is still a lethal weapon when we're playing away. He can score goals out of nowhere and saved our ass on more than one occasion.

At the moment I wouldn't even know which is the best combination. I love all 4 of them. :P

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

One thing I hate about Hernandez is that...he cannot create a goal for himself. He needs creative players to feed him and when we do not have that player in some games, he fades really. He is just a poacher...and a very good one that is though.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Berba's second goal just sums it up for me why i would hate watching him play for a rival team...a real mercurial talent.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yep. Love the Berb. Something is just odd about him, but in kind of endearing, nice way. He seems like he'd be a really solid guy off the pitch

Yeah he isnt gonna take on half the opposing team and score but thats no reason to "hate"...

he is getting better but still has alot of work to do on holding up play, first touch, passing etc but his goal ratio and work rate are very good.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So coming up to transfer window and we're linked with a few players but SAF seems to be taking the same stance that he's taken for the last few years.

"All things being equal I am perfectly happy with the strength of our squad in terms of depth, quality and age range. I will not be swayed by the endless tweets and blogs urging the club to get busy in the transfer market next month. As far as I am concerned I am marching perfectly in step, true to my beliefs and principles. While recruiting some of the world's leading players can lift you into contention for honours, it doesn't necessarily take you all the way, as I hope we will be able to demonstrate before the end of the season as other factors come into play. You can never say never in football, of course, because fortunes can fluctuate wildly - that's the football world. If a really top-class player became available, then we would go for him, or if we picked up any further serious injuries, it might be important to add to our squad."

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Goalscorers don't always have create goals for themselfs, Gomez and Falcao are arguably the top goalscorers last season and vital to the team, both whom come under the category of players who don't really create goals for themself, which is Hernandez, he may not be best dribbler in the world but he does what he's supposed to do and scores and gets us vital points, the kind of player you need to win the league.
