Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We're not buying anyone.

Honest we're not.

Fine, bed Pogba, recall Tunnicliffe and let's turn to youth. At the moment Fergie is doing neither. He's not advancing our future and he's not winning matches using the veterans.

As penetrative as Giggsy's passing can be, he doesn't bring the rest of the midfield package with him. He's a luxury player, and when an exhausted Carrick is the only person next to him, we can't afford it.

I'm pretty sure all of our losses/ disappointing draws this season have come when both Park and Giggs start. (except Blackburn, when there was no Giggs).

No value.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Crunched the numbers because I had some time - this season United have lost 17% of their fixtures.

When Park starts, they have lost 31% of their fixtures.

(including big teams like Crystal Palace, Basel and Blackburn)

I shudder every time he's on the teamsheet. Past decent performances mean nothing if we want to win the league.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Just keep your hands off Tiote please :HAND:

Haha, yeah - doubt we can afford him now!

Great performance by the way, was really, really impressed with the Toon. One of the best performances I've seen against us other than Barcelona in years (and yes, far better than the 6-1 at OT from City)

Yeah im agree with that , i dont know why but honestly i think in next match united is going to win vs city

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Honestly wish Rooney wasn't so mentally weak.

Everytime the tiniest little thing happens to him off the pitch he turns into a massive pile of shite on it.

Pathetic given the wages he's on.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I was thinkin of the same thing matherto...
His touch deserted him the whole game and wasnt looking sharp enough.
He should have buried the chance when Giggs puts him through.Struggled to even control the ball.
We have Park, Nani, Giggs, Carrick, Rooney and Berbatov...arguably, all individually technically better and more experienced than the Newcastle backline...and yet we struggled to even have a proper shot at Tim Krul.

Injuries and tired legs caught up, Carrick and Nani who have been carrying us in recent weeks looked knackered and shouldn't have started but their was no one to come in.

regarding buying, I would say we probably will but then I would have said that heading into the summer. I think SAF is adamant Cleverley and Anderson is the future, again its all too difficult to make sense of only the boss nows what he's thinking. I would hope he signs someone in January or the Summer

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Ugh - not pleased that Fergie has said he won't meet with Liverpool to try and quell supporters rage ahead of the match at OT. Obviously I agree with him that if LFC were serious about reconciliation they should have probably gone to United rather than simply telling the press they were going to (almost politician esque baiting that) but at some point someone needs to be the bigger man. And that should be Fergs and us, I hope.

Its not that he said he wouldnt meet, but he didnt think there was any need...

yeah it could have been SAF just being churlish after lfc went to the press about this (again)...

or just his opinion that if both lfc and the lfc player that was charged and banned for racially abusing another player. dont want to apologise then whats the point...

I agree to an extent - but even accepting LFC are responsible for the current state of affairs Fergie still has a duty to the United fans to keep them safe. It may not be his fault the scouse-cult is in full frenzy, but he should do what he can to make sure that tensions don't get anyone hurt.

Anyway, rest of press conference was him saying it's hard to sign players in January, and the 'ones we'd like' are not available. Should have thought of that in the summer eh?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The joys of being a United fan: Tomorrow's Independent FRONT PAGE is that Rooney will be allowed to leave.

I'm guessing this will be based on his one shocking performance against Newcastle, and his night out on the 26th. With, of course, "sources inside the club" and "a friend of Rooney's".

Sigh

The power of 'journalism' in our day and age: Make up story. Get more clicks. Get promoted. Yay!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I do worry about the Liverpool fixture in terms of trouble, I do hope we destroy them though ;))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well fingers crossed we don't get too badly hammered tomorrow. Sigh. Part of me hopes Fergie names a youth team, so it hurts less :(

Just thinking how different things could be had we had some of the $500m odd the Glazers have siphoned off. People give United a lot of stick (some deservedly so) but without Fergie there wouldn't be a team within 10 points of City at the end of the season (and to be fair, there still might not be).

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

oh one United fan have "beat" Balotelli and hes going to miss match today , is this true ? :O

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

the red card was a joke.
The lack of a red card (even a foul) for Carragher a few years ago, when he almost sliced Nani's foot, was a joke too. ;)

The fact is, these things happen to every single team - decisions for and decisions against. But everyone picks on us when we get a decision in our favour.

i´m not picking on anyone, i only think the ref made a bad mistake.. don´t know what he was thinking..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What a ridiculous match,

City'll take heart from the comeback, we almost fucked it up.

Perfect opportunity to absolutely muller them and we threw it away and gave them confidence back.

Annoyed with a victory, strange.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Think the red card was harsh personally, but there's plenty of others (neutrals included) who think it was a red. I'm usually pretty disappointed with a red card that early in the game, it generally ruins any sort of contest. But credit to them they fought well, tactically Mancini got it spot on in the 2nd half and it was a decent game.

But at the end of the day we're in the next round, and that's all that matters.

Huge grin on my face when Scholesy came on, but i'd honestly prefer it if he played in a more advanced position where he's less likely to be caught out by his lack of pace, but Fergie knows best.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I've never been so pissed after a victory against one of our greatest rival.

Anderson is outrageaous. He just came on for 30 minutes and he was barely running, if at all. At that part where City could have got a penatly for Jones' handball, he was lazily looking at Milner getting himself into a crossing position. This for me sums up his attitute since he's joined United. He's so unfit and lazy at times that he never ever tries to get the ball back. I've never seen in him that passion that some of our other players have. People have been saying how lazy Berbatov is but if you actually look at him you can see how he tries his best to recover the ball, and how pissed he is when others aren't making the effort to press forward. Ando just looks like he doesn't even care one bit.

I can't wait for Cleverley to be back. Unlike Anderson, he always seems to be giving his everything.

Scholes was clearly rusty, but seeing him back today gave a smile to my face. I hope we'll be able to see him in fighting shape soon.
