Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Its our 20th title to lose now...

Not so sure...

if we had come from 1-0 down to beat chelsea....

then snatched a point away from home to go top of the league...

we'd be starting to believe title was ours...

our next three games we play after city...

huge (massive) pressure on on both teams.....

I still can't call it...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah, I don't think a lot has changed, it's only a potential 3 point gap, then we have the game at City...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It's anyone's at this point, Eastlands is looking worryingly vital. GD needs a good boost tomorrow.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah, not much has really changed. Have to make sure we beat Fulham tomorrow, but the game at Eastlands might well decide it - and City haven't dropped points there...

I think City would probably have been alright with 4 points from Stoke and Chelsea, but there'll be more ups and downs along the way.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It is and always was gonna be down to the game at their place.

Doesn't fill me full of confidence that thought but we always do things the hard way.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'm sure Fergie will have them up and ready for it - but games like today are going to be crucial. It won't win us the league but if we slip up, it could well lose it.

Danny Murphy often seems to save a performance (and a goal) for when he plays us, and Dempsey and Dembele have looked great this year. But, we should have a well rested, prepared first XI out there so could be a great match.

If Park starts I'm refusing to watch.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Nani and Valencia on the flanks please, those two should be flat out for the rest of the season would be nice to see and definitely gives our midfield room to breathe when your wide players need double teaming on occasions.

Yep, and then bring on Young towards the end to keep the pressure on the full backs for the full 90.

Was watching Sunderland this weekend - McClean looks pretty interesting. An actual left footed winger? Would Fergie ever go for such a thing?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Definitely a penalty for me. Smart play from Murphy - once he was in the box he actually deliberately didn't get near the ball, just put his body in the way and waited for contact - which came and he went down very easily. But still a penalty.

Would have been a bit of a tragedy to lose to 90th minute penalty against a team that hadn't had a shot on target in the last 45 minutes, but it happens.

Just not sure what Fulham's game plan was. For 75 minutes they defended as if they were winning, when the opposite was the case. Bus parked and all that.

Love to see all the conspiracy theorists/ LFC/MCFC fans out in force. According to the neutral 'debatable decisions' website United would be 4 points clear before today if all decisions had gone as they should. But no one will mention Newcastle, they'll just say it's United and corruption and all that.

I like this response, from another United fan: If City fans really believe United have paid off officials, why aren't they more upset with City's management? I mean, whatever United are offering City could treble it!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Karma paying us back for the Newcastle one earlier in the season?

Absolutely no doubt it was a penalty, I believe Carrick admitted as much to the ref after the game.

Anyway we were bloody awful, no idea what was wrong but the play was so slow, so predictable and so many sloppy passes were played. Fulham realised they weren't gonna get tonked and responded. Dembele is extremely handy.

Still, a win is a win and we've got three points on City again, thank god.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Mind games. He probably knows this is not true but he has to do it anyway. It's always been like that.

Nothing to see there.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what a biased man like Vieira is saying but what Martin Jol (or someone else on behalf of Fulham) was saying about what the hell do teams have to do to get a penalty at Old Trafford was quite a good point.

Conceded 1 less than City since 2006 at home and 2 more than Liverpool, which is ironic considering all the conspiracy theories that get thrown about from them.

The fact is we get more media coverage than any other English team, and with that we're also going to be the most analysed team in England. Which is probably why people will usually remember an incident involving a United player.

Oh and Vieira is clearly quick to forget the penalty Stoke should of had vs City at the Britannia, I guess that means referees are reluctant to give City a penalty away from home.

It just shows how uninformed people can be.
On another site, a City fan was going on (& on) about how we're 10 points up compared to last season, so any other season they'd be running away with it.
Clearly forgetting that the league was won with a very low total last
season...

Someone made a good point though. As we allegedly have the officials in our pocket, why don't City offer them double what we are?

It must also be our fault that their strikers can't score away from home, or is that just Evra's fault?

United have conceded the second most penalties to away teams in the league this year.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Wow, so nearly a win for Sunderland.

We've got to win vs Blackburn now and keep the momentum going for us, but I've a feeling it's going to be a very tough game.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We have a pretty awful record at Ewood park. Think coming out of this weekend having not lost ground on City wouldn't be terrible - certainly didn't expect them to draw against S'Land.

Kind of a big test of our title ambitions. If Fergie sticks Park or Giggs in the starting XI I'm going to blow a casket.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Win on Monday and Arsenal V City could be champagne day if things go well.

Obviously if we win the next two we'll be in a great position - BUT - I don't think QPR or Blackburn are 'in the bag' type matches. If Taraabt has finally worked out where hte goal is, he's a danger, plus Zamora for some reason has terrorized our defence in the past.

Couple that Blackburn's seeming jinx over us away and could be nervy times.

If, however, we get to kick-off at Arsenal City with an 8 point lead, we'll obviously be firmly in the driving seat.

Not close to done and dusted yet, nor do I believe our team is so good that we shouldn't be worried. We're still massively dependent on Scholes and Carrick staying fit for the next month, not to mention there's a tournament in 3 months and Rooney has yet to do his metatarsal...

Don't think our records that bad! If my memory serves me we've only lost there once in the last 5yrs, had a couple of draws though.

Completely Agree, could draw on Monday, and then even win the next week but if City get a big win at the Emirates then its 3 points and they'll take that going into Eastlands. We need to take advantage and be 8 clear before they next kick off.

Regarding Wayne's injury, it doesn't matter he misses the group and England might be out once hes eligible to return.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

O ye of little faith
