Manchester United Thread

Halftime. 1-1 in Hannover.

Chicharito equalised with a poachers goal after Rooney's shot was parried by ex-red Ron Rob Zieler.

Just a few pointers.

Kagawa and Cleverley paired in the middle and yes the Jap can play in a two-man midfield partnership with Young and Nani on the wings. Modric-esque I would dare say but with much much faster movements.

Finally a game with plenty of movement and industry...perhaps down to the pacy players we have to start with.

Sir Alex is not with the team again...Away on club business. I wonder what could this mean?

The team started like this.

Lindegaard
Keane-Vida-Carrick-Evra
Nani-Kagawa-Clev-Young
Rooney
Chicharito.

Aye, totally agree, Cleverley looked really impressive too, he looks like the real deal (as long as he stays fit).

Season start can't come soon enough! :)

Oh, just forgot to say, it could have been a great moment for youngster Michael Keane had he scored one of those two chances. Unlucky.

Nice dive by Rooney

Just to be clear you're watching a Manchester United pre-season friendly match, which isn't even on television domestically, instead of the Olympics? As far as I'm aware it's only on MUTV. So you've spent time digging out an illegal web stream to watch United play a friendly.

Who do you support?

And yes it was a dive. Not for the first time. City have nice players that don't dive, they do classy things like this:

YouTube - Michael Ball kicks Cristiano Ronaldo in the stomach ( Original )

Don't. Feed. The troll.

Fair point, will stop as he clearly has nothing to contribute.

As to the match itself:

Positives:
We scored 4 goals. 2 of which were class - a perfect free kick from Rooney and a lovely combination play for Kagawa's.
We came back from 3-1 down.
Kagawa is f*cking awesome.
Cleverley was equally impressive.

Negatives:
We have no defence. Carrick was poor and responsible for 2 goals - but he's not a defender.
Rooney dived for the penalty, cue replays, newspaper articles and indignation from the nation.
Chicarito looks like a second rate bench warmer from the Mexican league.

I'm not interested in the Olympics and I have a stream site in my tab bar and, after reading Phrase's post, thought I'd check out how a rival is looking in preseason. Is that OK with you?

Seems you have a stick lodged up your spine

Phrase you do realise that Manchester United won league titles before 1993 don't you?

It's either the Premier League titles (from '92 till now), or he started following United in the early 90s. Think it's the first though. ;)

My signature was a reflection of the years we won the Premiership and The Champions League.

I only started to notice United in season 1993–94 I think...Only because a certain Frenchman made big news in the news by kung-fu kicking that thug in the crowd. :))

I've seen trolls like Godotelli in this forum for quite a number of years now and I have seen better to be honest.

More onto the fantastic game we won in Hannover.

Tom Cleverley is all action but I cringe everytime he goes down because he will be such an important player next season alongside Carrick in the middle. He needs to be fit for most of the season to run our engine.Fantastic little player.MOTM for me last night.

Hernandez seems to be taking a step back in terms of progression.I think he will be the one losing out if we signed a new forward soon.He has pace but seems too eager to sprint off for thru balls.Should have scored with that superb thru pass from Rooney in the 2nd half.Bread and butter stuff for him.

Shinji Kagawa. What a player we have bought here. The 'Asian David Silva' might just be the perfect description for him.Seems to have more goals than the spaniard though.Performed really really well in the middle and that goal he scored was pure technique.

Kagawa is superb addition to the team. One of those awesome signings which happen... Once in few years.

I would call him Japanese Iniesta to be completely fair. His ball control, vision, passing and dribbling are top notch.

What does slightly bother me, will he last 90 min games in EPL... As he didn't in BVB (was always subbed out on 60-80 min mark).

I do wonder if Ferguson has got any plan B ready in case Kagawa gets injured. Believe it or not, we don't have similar player in squad. Maybe throw the dice and give Mats Daehli. a chance (if not now then WHEN, I don't want to lose him, the guy is incredible!) :)

Back to the game, almost had heart attack there... Losing 3-1 vs Hannover. Glad the boys pulled it back and in the end won the game. Still worried about defense though. That's probably our weakest formation at the moment. Not questioning Vida or Ferdinand ability, but they are getting older and injuries will come more often :(. I don't believe Smalling/Jones pair to cover it up.

Plus Jones looked way better in DM position than in DC when I saw him play. So we have Evans, who did grow a lot. We do need some backup here, as Carrick on defense = suicide!

There was also Polish accent in that game, Artur Sobiech scored for H96 :D. Makes me proud a bit :P.

Artur Sobiech should thank Anders Lindegaard for that goal.
A basic goalkeeping mistake.

Following that goal, a clip of De Gea showing Bebe the technique to catch that sort of shots was really funny...Bebe wants to be a goalkeeper now?! Hahaha!

Just got round to watching the Hannover game.

Offensively some of the interplay and movement was brilliant which is a good stuff, defensively it was kind of worrying but hopefully we can improve on that once Rio comes back into the team and Carrick pushes into midfield to add further steel.

So the ginger twunts are finally looking into selling the naming rights to OT.

I'd hate to see it happen and everyone will still call it Old Trafford but if the added money from the hopefully massive deal all goes into getting the debt gone then I could grin and bear it.

We all know it won't though.

This would be a step too far.

Been away for a week, not at all surprised there has been no action. Managed to watch the Barca game away (nothing special). I'd love to know what is going off with van Persie, 1 year left, he wants away, only really United linked and just nothing is happening typical! Its as though out of all the clubs in the world United have to do business in a completely different strange way. Unless its like a Kagawa signing, hats off on that one

Was just getting excited when I saw a tweet with a pic of RVP at the airport carrying his own luggage, 'boarding a flight to Manchester' claimed sensationally.

Sadly it was an old pic of him when the Dutch were knocked out of the Euros...Was just getting the Kleenex ready. :)

Its been said a while back that we are not buying a DMF anymore...might be due to a change in tactics perhaps.

The only player of that sort that is remotely linked to us even is Nuri Sahin.

Phrase if you have man u 1968 euro cup win where are busby's league title wins?

Football began before 1993!

Interesting - Ivanovic isn't getting a ban following his red card in the community shield.

Apparently the FA changed the rule after they banned Scholes and Rooney for picking up (the Rooney one was a joke) red cards in some pre-season tourney in Amsterdam. They literally banned the 2 United players (unprecedentedly - Gerrard had been sent off in the same tournament and not banned domestically) and then changed the rule right after.

But hey, the FA favor United right?

Ugh.

Anyway, still no new midfielder. Wonder how many seasons without a trophy we'll need to go through before Fergie pulls his finger out.

Also - this stuff about Fergie staying at OT for 'club business' - anyone getting worried? Fergie isn't the person that draws up contracts, conducts medicals or even mans the mighty fax machines. I'm definitely concerned it's a health thing.

Dude...I only quote 1968, 1999 and 2008 as a homage for United's Champions League Winners medals.

The years above those are for PREMIERSHIP Winners Medals.

And if you are so interested in our Busby's league title wins with the premiership wins as a whole...look no further than my avatar which has a big bold number 19 on it.

:BYE:

ps: Thanks spektarm!

Yeah the FA apparently changed the rules concerning cards gotten during pre-season games.

No new 'traditional central midfielder' linked to us recently...as I said above the only one that is remotely linked to us is Nuri Sahin.

Sir Alex is lookin fine in the latest pic of him in London...so that sets his health problems aside.I still believe its for our transfer dealings.SAF adding a personal touch to land our target I think...It has worked wonderfully in the past.Fingers crossed.

This is why you Man U supporters get bad names, you dont respect the old league format.

Its all Premiership premiership premiership blah blah blah now.

May I ask where you are from Phrase?

When has any of us ever said something about the old league format? Where the hell did that even come from?

Is there any reason why we shouldn't respect the old league format? As far as I know we have the most titles won during not only the Premiership era but old and new "eras" combined as well. I don't see what all your fuss is all about.
