What is happening with Fellaini ?
He came on for Belgium against Japan yesterday and in everything he did, you could see that this is a player without any confidence at all...he lost all his aerial battles against tiny Japanese players...he even missed some chest controls...
In the past Fellaini's matches for our national team were not always the best because of too much confidence, but now we saw a player who is totally without confidence...even the most simple passes did not succeed.
He is a shadow of his former self.

What's strange is that is how he arrived at United. I'd been banging on for almost a year how he would be a great addition to our team, but for whatever reason he showed up 'broken'. I'd love to blame Moyes, but that doesn't make sense, and I'd love to blame United, but he was piss when he started his first match.

Seems like he lost his head with the transfer talk in the summer or something. He's a much, much better player than he's shown this year. It's just really odd (and tbf a rare situation) to have the same manager unable to bring a player out of his shell.

He's definitely looked short of confidence recently. Whether he has the self-belief to overcome that and establish himself at Utd will be interesting to see.
 
Going to a massive club like united and having to prove yourself against a few of the worlds great players in training every week could be a bit of a confidence killer for a lot of football players. I hope he regains that confidence soon though..we need him to be his former aggressor self so other hotheads like Rooney and RvP have the focus taken off them a bit :PIRATE:
 
Fellaini I don't think suits the role we've brought him in for really, I think he'd be far more suited to a team like Chelsea with there physicality in midfield.

I think the most disappointing thing so far with him has been his lack of effort at times.

Couldn't agree more. There have been times he's just watched a midfielder run right past him without making any effort to slow them down. And he barely makes tackles for us?!

It's inexplicable. Maybe we should let him get his wrist surgery and rest up over xmas. Take some time to get his head back.

Anywho, football to be played, and as this is Untied, without a decent midfield. Yay!

Some players just can't deal with it.

He doesn't compliment Carrick, doesn't fit the team at all, hasn't played very well and mostly, just like Berba, the fans are questioning whether he was really necessary.

None of that can be good for confidence really.

Can see why the ref didn't send Rooney off - on my feed at halftime you could see that Medel was between him and Rooney so he couldn't see it. But the linesman should have, should be red. Can't argue.

Every other decision has gone the wrong way though, so I think the ref knows. Fellaini has given away 2 fouls for heading the ball, and the ref has basically ignored handballs throughout. Just think the ref is bad and wants to avoid big decisions.

Cardiff's goal is an absolute beauty. Pretty much one chance all half and good to see Frazier Campbell still being clinical.

We've been controlled but slow. We're going to be crap until we can bring Rafael back, Smalling is barely a footballer with the ball. I genuinely believe I could be a bigger threat down the right than he is. I'd bring on Nani and stick Valencia back there.

It's like we're playing with 10 men when we have the ball.
 
Also, this ref is absolutely awful. Three clear corner decisions have gone the wrong way in this half, and a Cardiff player just literally kicked the ball out of De Gea's hand while he was trying to kick up the field, and the ref didn't give a card!

He's clearly not young but this is his first ever season in the top league. I can see why.

Also, we'll see replays of Rooney for the next week, but in the 89th minute, before letting Cardiff score the equalising goal, Medel literally punched Fellaini in the face. The ref clearly saw something, because he called the player over. But instead of the red card, instead of even a foul, he just had a talking to, and there you go they score.

But don't expect to hear about that.

Yeah that was a really odd decision. That punch in Fellaini s face was absolutely appalling but beach is right..the story will be how Rooney escaped a card. Think we missed Robin today..he s much better suited to deal with the physicality of a team like Cardiff than Chicha
 
Cardiff basically created nothing we didn't give them in the second half. That was the worst part. I don't buy all this 'deserving a point' - they were terrible and basically played hoofball from 65 minutes.

We were poor, but should still easily have won that.

And it's hilarious just glancing at news sites - every single one manages to get a byline in about Rooney. Not a word on Medel.

I hope that ref gets demoted. Got so many things wrong it's a joke.

We also need to get Fellaini to cut his hair and go on a ref sucking up routine. Because that man is positively persecuted by referees. I didn't watch Everton enough to know if it was the same there, but both domestically and in Europe this year he gets calls against him that are not even close to fouls. He conceded 4 free kicks tonight that weren't even similar to him having done anything wrong. And then because he didn't go to ground clutching his face when getting hit by Medel, we concede.

I'd love to read that ref's match report:

20 mins: And then W. Rooney (United) kicked out at a player fouling him. It was only a little kick out, so I gave him a yellow.

89 mins: And then I pulled up G. Medel and M. Fellaini after seeing Medel punch Fellaini in the face. But Medel is very little and Fellaini has funny hair, so I thought I'd tell Fellaini that he needs to stop getting hit in the face, and let Cardiff take the free kick.

All he needed to do was slot it in low to the GKs left
 
i think its because he represented TEAMGB at olympics. some welsh were kickin' off at the time about it. it's a bit low tbh..
