Seriously though.. Enjoy it. You deserve a piece of the pie too sometimes.. Would hate for this to be a La Liga or Bundesliga type of "competition". Spurs have some class players so I'm glad for them they're kicking into gear, even though we're just fkin awful without Rafael, Jones and RvP so not sure how well Spurs really played. Impressed w Welbeck though. I'm sure SAF has already been giving Moyes the hairdryer treatment! Or so I hope..

Btw.. I m a fan of Evra for the most part (despite the fact he s French.. Guess he can't help that) but he s making so many defensive errors these days there s just no way in hell he still makes a solid back. Perhaps selling him to PSG or Monaco wold be good business.. He could do very well for 2 more years or so in France.

United could have got one penalty and maybe Lloris handde the ball outside the box at the beginning of the match. That could have been a sending off.
We can't complain about the ref.
 
The thing with the Lloris-Young incident is how many times in a game do you see a defender clatter into a forward after the shot is taken? Numerous times and penalties are never awarded. They aren't even contested. It's one of those late challenges that you get outside the box but not inside.

BTW, interesting stat, apparently your home record is identical to our away record.

Could have been given, but we shouldn't be relying on things like that.

To be fair I thought the last 30 minutes was more 'United-like' than most home matches this season. We've gone behind to Spurs almost every friggin time we play them, and it always requires a massive surge towards the end. Past few years it worked out, this year it didn't.

It's January. If we want to compete with the best teams, we need to start building a squad like the best teams. It really is that simple.

In many ways I think this season is really good for us. Closer watches of United over the past 3 years have known that despite being within a point of the title every year, we've not played nearly as well as in the past. If we just kept ticking along and made the top 4 at a canter, it wouldn't be clear what a massive rebuilding job is required. Fortunately, we're absolutely stinking it out, so it should be clear even to our owners swimming in the pools of cash.

We don't even need that much. If we'd bought the same 3 players City did this off-season, I think we'd be very much up at the top. It's not a huge influx of players that is required, but we will need genuinely class players that are ready to go right into the first team. Perhaps we can't afford that anymore, that's the only excuse I'll accept.

If we could add a first team central midfielder, left-sided winger and a back up full back, I think we'd be challenging for top 4. That's a big ask in the context of January, but really Moyes should have known this in the summer.
 
Been in Japan recently and haven't watched us recently but I'm guessing it's more of the same old dire shite we've served up for ages, except RvP isn't there to paper over the cracks.

From a defensive point, I think it's time Moyes settled on two of Jones, Smalling and Evans as a regular partnership at the back, better they develop an understanding going now rather than being thrown together when Moyes finally decides to phase Vidic out of the first XI.
 
Nice triple-whammy from Lloris foul - not only no pen and no card, but Young is injured 'for a time' from the challenge. Good stuff from 'Man United fan Howard Webb'. Pity for Ashley he was starting to look more like his 'old' self and seemed to be rising in confidence.

Two matches in 48 hours coming up, and no RVP back. Should be a good test of the squad. Lots of players past last-chance saloon, so not sure what Moyes will do. Carrick and Fletcher can't play twice in 48 hours, and Jones is still out. Could be a midfield of Anderson and Giggs! Magnificent.
 
Could be a blessing in disguise. Whilst he's out he has time to mentor Januzaj and Welbeck on how to perfect their 'technique' ;)

I think were probably out of the race for 4th in all honesty, too many big games yet to play and to coincide with that the top 5 teams are still neck and neck. Hopefully we can pick up a trophy in one of the three cups were still in.
 
Hard to disagree - think 4th is beyond us unless we sign some serious talent.

Given that, I'd love for us to bring back Powell and Lingard and give them a shot. No real harm. Let Giggsy hang up his boots, give Evans and Smalling or Evans and Jones a run of games together in the centre. Give Kagawa some games in the hole. Basically use this season as a transition and a chance to see the young players in a true first XI environment.
 
De Rossi probably would have. He's mental, and moving from Roma to Manchester city wise is quite the step down.

considering Rooney is by far our best player at this moment (him and RVP are clearly 1A and 1B) would be crazy to play anyone other than Wayne in that position

some positives so far IMO are some youngsters have really stepped up and shown they are absolutely the backbone of the future in Jones and Januzaj being the standout two, Rooney's been rejuvenated and if Rafael can sort his injury woes then he's another to lead the future for us.
 
Interesting, someone on twitter saying that apparently we've only lost 1 match when both Rooney and RVP start. That's reasonably impressive, but highlights how important injuries are to us again this year.

Now that the entire fitness staff and coach have been changed, the fact that we still have almost an entire XI out injured makes me question the players more than the regime. No idea what's going on, but it can't be a conincidence that ourselves and Arsenal are the perennial leaders of the 'injury league'.

Yeah I've seen that stat before. Impressive and depressing. I've often wondered about our plethora of injuries as well. It's especially crazy when u look at how many injuries we had the season City just beat us to the title. We were number 1 or 2 or whatever in injuries that season by quite a margin if I recall. Unfortunately our squad is not as deep as it once was. Or at least the injuries and drop in form with it more or less negated that benefit. Still find it odd RvP played nearly every game for 2 1/2 - 3 years and suddenly goes back to having two consecutive injuries with the change in coaching staff. Same w Rafael.
 
I think our list for tomorrow is: Rooney, RVP, Jones, Young, Nani, Fellaini, Rafael - that's a lot of our 'actual' talent. Sigh.

Still, interesting to see what Moyes does with the two games in quick succession, and our loanees being back. Wouldn't be that surprising to see Lingard and Powell get minutes. Maybe even Will Keane!
 
Why do we have to keep going on about sacking Moyes? Very spoilt we sound. I'd like to see Moyes for a couple seasons more before judging anything.
 
I have a theory that whoever would've replaced Fergie was doomed due to the unique situation they found themselves in, replacing someone who is almost bigger than the club itself.

Jose would've been too confrontational, maybe Pep but he would've had to rebuild the entire team. It would've had to be someone old and extremely respected.

We'll see how Ole gets on at Cardiff. It'll probably be the first time in a long, long time that an opposition manager is more popular with our fans than our own, when we face them at Old Trafford. At least the match going fans have been very supportive of Moyes, so far.

Fergie is the real downfall of united imo. Left a one man team side in the hands of a unproven manager. Like another unites Fan.only Wenger could have done a bit better with that squad
 
Ferguson has a big responsability in all this.
He left a two player team to Moyes, and yes, he was the one who made the choice for his successor, which is madness if you consider this well.

Also tend to agree with abou, the successor is doomde. Same will happen with wenger's successor.

Wenger could leave today and whoever comes in has a great squad in a much better state then united to use
