Manchester United Thread

G Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and P Neville have exchanged on a deal to acquire Salford City FC, it's just been announced

Best owner-player team ever.
 
So after hearing Arsenal complain about their kick off times and how that impacts performance, I had a hunch and looked.

We've had 1 kick off this season at 3pm on Saturday. 1!!!

Can't imagine there be a lot of folks who do not secretly hope for a loss against Villa. I've gone back and forth so many times on the current team and Moyes but the line was crossed one too many times this season. Sadly we sometimes needed another loss or simple stats to remind us of it after the occasional highs. If Everton would take the 4 spot that would be the ultimate irony imho.
 
without Sky you would have no premier league trophies, well definitely not 13? of them anyway..

also how can you own a club but play for another? giggs not satisfied with being with only 1 club at a time?

Nice, I like the proactive fans there.

The only thing that makes me feel like its not all Moyes fault is the amount of support he's had from United players.

- Keane, Scholes, Neville, Charlton have all been really pro-Moyes recently. There's probably some towing of the line, but I guess those guys have a better idea than we do.

Ferguson's opinion is so biased as to be useless. He's going to support Moyes in the same way he supported Veron, Kleberson, Bebe and Djemba squared.

But for the good of football I want a manager that will play Kagawa, Mata and Janujaz close to each other, and with a formation that enables intricate passing. Some incredibly intelligent players there, of course with Rooney in front of them.

I don't necessarily agree, but i can't figure out why you react like this. Am i missing something ?

Generally putting on a competition? Sounds like that is a secondary aspect of their business model! It's not a surprise that they think like that, but that they would come out and plainly say it.


I guess Utd fans should be happy about his comment, as it's purely a business comment and the Glazers might take notice.
 
I detest Scudamore. Corporate pricks like him are to blame for how financially bloated top level English football has become while the lower levels and grassroots in this country has been continually overlooked.

That's how a lot of these suits see competitive sports though, they care about the financial ramifications the most.
 
Fellaini being investigated by the FA for supposedly spitting at Zabaleta.

The footage shows he spat a foot past Zabaleta's head but considering he's a Utd player that doesn't mean he wasn't aiming for him :P
 
If he did, ban him. Though I've gotta say at the time I didn't notice it at all. Nor did Zabaleta, nor any other players or staff.

As long as this isn't a case of some internet ABU's cutting footage from 5 angles to make a video that looks like he spat at someone, rather than past him, and then submitting it to the FA.

It worries me if we go down a road of random people being able to submit 'video evidence' of things.

The George Boyd one was odd to me. Looked he was just yelling at Hart, and Hart himself came out and said that Boyd didn't spit. However, the FA could care less what the two involved thought and banned him anyway.

Obviously Fellaini should be serving a ban because he elbowed Zabaleta. But that doesn't mean the FA should 'create' an alternate charge to achieve that ban. That's not how they should work - and it's pretty scary if they do start working that way.

There is no way from that angle to tell if he was spitting at Zabaleta, or past him, or nearby him. Ignoring the fact the spit obviously hits the ground a couple feet from his head, there is simply no way to tell from that perspective. Plus they've had to freeze frame and zoom in from one camera shot - who is so desperate that they're spending their time doing this?!

Dangerous ground. You could ban a player for almost every tackle made on the pitch if you freeze frame, twist the perspective and so forth. Then again, it's the FA, so if the Mail et al yell loud enough, I'm confident they can get him banned.

i would like to see how you come to this conclusion, how does this estimate equal animosity? (i noticed hate or hater seems to be a favourite word for glory hunters to use)it's really ironic when man u fans cry about sky sports when it is well known that since the introduction of the premier league and sky sports in about 1992 man u has benefited tremendously more than anyone else. i am not hating, this is just fact, but since roman and mansour came aiong it evened things out a bit.

also, if man u never sack moyes it will be interesting to see if they can reach League 1 before salford city do, what would giggs do when he got 2 teams in same division?
 
for what it's worth, I would say he did spit at Zabaleta. Regardless of whether it landed on him or not, I think it's pretty clear.
Either way, it's a perception not fact so move on I say.

It's not the first time he has posted stuff like that, but I've never replied. That was a bit of an overreaction towards his posts regarding United as a whole.

Listen dude, it's okay that you dislike United, everyone is entitled to his opinion. What bothers me is the way that you express it - only pointing out shite about United, sometimes in particular Rooney, and after I reviewed your latest posts in the United thread, I can say that you seem to be either exaggerating something or posting crap about Utd players.

Anyway, I think you deserve an apology for my post above - I'm sorry. I just see some of your posts as attempts to wind people up. And I definitely don't agree with your posts about Sky. First off, Beach posted something regarding Arsenal's complaints against Sky and then compared our schedule to theirs. You then replied in a manner which I find somehow offensive to everything United has achieved in the Premier League. Because no, Sky is not the reason United won so many trophies. Yes, United may be the team that has benefited the most from TV rights, deals, etc. but you portray this as a negative which it isn't. On the contrary - Utd has been a marketing machine these last 20 years, by having the appeal which only a few other teams in the world have had. Furthermore, I don't think United has benefited "tremendously more" than the other teams in comparison to a Barcelona or a Real Madrid in Spain, such statement would be valid in their threads.

One final thing, I think it's pretty clear that there are no glory hunters here on Evo-Web, the users here are pretty mature, so there's no need for that kind of generalisation. I'll refrain from using the words hater/hate/hatred if that's what you'd like.

Everything should be taken w/ a pinch of salt. Owen never managed a football club . Its easy for us to have a say... I`d thought a person w/ his own stage should analysis from a more profound stance. He basically saw a house burn down ,then says it was destroyed by fire.
 
Amazing players get paid for an 'article'. Say the obvious with a very little bit of inside "knowlegde".

Im pretty sure the same was said in here that getting rid of the whole backroom staff was a mistake....when it happened.
