The Retro-PES Corner

I've never tried that to be honest, but I think it will definitely be worth a try.
I am also very annoyed at the regen system but apparently they've always been OK with it to the extent that as far as I know it never really changed.

I've been through many "exotic" explanations to justify real life players coming back as youths when they retire. For example, Maldini retires > "Oh look, there's a new kid on the block. He is the son of Maldini's lesser known, older brother and he's very promising, much like his uncle" (as he'd be too young to be Paolo Maldini's son, given that if Maldini retired at 35 and came back as a 17 year old youth... Maldini would've been 18 at his birth. It could work for some players retiring at 39/40, but it definitely won't work for all the players).
But I've always found myself running out of credible excuses very quickly.

It seems that neither OF Editor 2007-2010_1.1.0 nor OF Editor 2011-2014_1.1.1 includes the functionality for batch-editing all players' attributes. What I need is a feature to globally reduce attributes like dribbling speed for all players.
Some people say that PESFan Editor has this feature, but I cannot find a PESFan Editor that supports the PS2 versions of WE2008/JLWE2008.
Is there the chance you export the data, batch edit them with Excel, and import them back maybe?
I don't know, just guessing. I haven't touched a PES editor in a long time so I'm not sure if they do actually have the "import from Excel/CSV feature" (but hopefully they do).

Yeah I guess if I can't find out before actually starting the ML I should just accept that there may be the possibility that it all gets replaced by the new player, but I surely hope I can make it make sense!

I experience stuttering during corners and free kicks in the Winning Eleven series on NTSC/60Hz, but I have no problems at all in the PES series on PAL/50Hz. I play using PS2 OPL Manager. Is there a solution to this?

I love PES 5 but I think PES 4 beats it in these aspects:

CPU AI (attack and defence)
Foul logic
Dribbling fluidity and animations. It feels far less 8 directional than PES 5 (and 6), almost like an early PS3-era FIFA

Very underrated and has to be better than 6 for me.
Have you tried WE8LE? It's basically PES 4 but with improved gameplay. I don't really like PES 4 but I like WE8LE so maybe you won't like WE8LE if you like PES4. Give it a shot though if you've not played it ✌️

Hi everyone, how are you? I'm looking for an ISO of Winning Eleven 2013, PC version. It's a rare item I'd like to keep, as it's a memorable game from a memorable era. Does anyone have one and could share it? Thank you very much.

PES 2013 PC Download...

same game of Winning Eleven 2013, but named for European market like Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 PC

With asian name of World Soccer Winning Eleven 2013 there wasn't any PC version but only PS3 and 3ds ones

After all these years, I’ve only just realised the stars on the front covers of both PES and WE titles:

After PES 6, the naming changed to years as we know.

PES 2008 has 7 stars after the title (PES 7)
PES 2009 has 8 stars
PES 2010 has 9 stars
PES 2011 has 10 stars
PES 2012 has 11 stars
PES 2013 has 12 stars
PES 2014 has 13 stars

WE have the corresponding number of stars too! After Winning Eleven 10:

WE 2008 has 11 stars (WE11)
WE 2009 has 12 stars etc etc

The PSP versions too - PES and WE 2008 were the third iterations on PSP and so have, you guessed it, 3 stars.

Potentially pointless trivia but I’m wowed easily 🤩.

I didn't know that the Japanese version of Winning Eleven 2013 was only released for PS3 and 3DS, what a shame, I thought there was a PC version. But it's okay, I'll wait, maybe one day they'll manage to port the game to PC. Thank you very much.

You can always download it as console version (rom/iso) and play it on PC through the proper emulator:

Download WE2013 console versions here...

Download PS3 emulator...

However the only reason to prefere this way, is only if you want J.League in game, because Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 is the same game but without J.League, because on Japan market Konami made these choice (Consoles only and J.League DLC, with JP and Eng language only) and I'm not sure, but perhaps at the time you only had J.League if you paid for the DLC separately throught PS3 store, because otherwise the game was the same as PES2013.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm familiar with the European version. I really wanted the Japanese version with Kagawa, but I was informed that it was only released for PS3 and 3DS, and not for PC. That's a shame.
Ah sorry I miss read your post. Yeah I don't recall winning eleven on PC. If you can't emulate PS3 there's always Winning Eleven 2012 for PS2 which has Kagawa as the front cover. You can't really go wrong with any of the PS2 games really

Any tips for playing PES 3 on PS2?

I've been going though my old PES games most of this year and playing the ML in each to finally win every trophy in each of the games. I don't have many memories on playing PES 3 when I was younger and playing it again I can see why! Just feels so odd to play, even at 4 stars, I don't seem to have any control on my players like I do on PES 2 and PES 4 (PS2 versions), which have been great fun to revisit.

Are there any tricks to employ against the AI - lofted throughballs seems a bit hit and miss but is the best weapon I've found so far. My main problem is getting swarmed by the AI's pressing and not having a passing option available so I lose the ball easily and then struggle to win it back.

The only way to get that is by export as csv and reimport the csv, be careful with using excel it might break the csv encoding and separator i strongly recommend for this libreoffice

Thank you for this tool. I used Google Sheets when converting WE 2008 to lowercase names*. Excel strangely messed up special characters when using the =PROPER(A2) etc formula.

*Before I realised that all the extra / hidden teams would have course remain in CAPSlock, so I discarded the file!

yeah I wanted to continue with the tools but honestly its a lot of work testing and time I prefer right now to invest on other stuff but I might come back to it, it would be great if someone else would like to continue the work with me, doing it alone its hard

Just to make clear, my post was a genuine thank you. Excel messing with characters, and Konami’s decision to capitalise the 2008 games is not your fault. You have my complete respect and gratitude!

totally understand it! dont worry, my response was a way to say sorry for not being able to help you with that because it was part of my goal to allow people to change stuff as they like but yeah... im too ambicious sometimes

Ambition is great. Like the cliché goes, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.”. And your tools have helped so many of us on this site get to an out-of-this-world place with retro PES.

I think I’m now PES 6 > 5 and 4. It’s just an absolute blast, the additional animations give it more replayability and it has one of the best shooting mechanics of any game. Merry Christmas!

If you like PES 6. You should try J.Legaue WE2008CC, it has the european leagues too.

Its pretty much a PES 6 with more "advanced" attacking AI.

U should try we10le. It's Pes6 with a Better defense a.i, better dribbling and shooting.
All Liveware Evolutions (8,9,10) are great, way better than their Pes counterparts.

We8le: to me it's the most balanced between them. It has the best attacking a.i, physics is great and shooting is really a lot varied. I still have to unlock 6th star, so maybe my opinion will change but CPU defenders don't cover good to 1-2 passes. Goalkeepers are the worst from these 3 titles, but are fine.

We9le: It has the most advanced physics and physicalty (the best in football games history to me), players individuality shines the most.
Many people use a Pes5 option file on it (to translate player names quickly), but this nerf a lot A.i.
Keeping its original option file A.i is not bad at all: it's actually amazing at defending at decent at attacking.
Shooting is great.
Dribbling is less free than the other two, but is really intersting with all inertia the game has. You can feel players be different on the ball even with similar stats and this could be due player height too.

We10le: the physicalty is more streamlined, but it still have a good ball physics and great shooting. There is still some inertia in player movements.
A.i is improved over pes6 expecially at defending.
Dribbling is super fun, the best between the 3 Liveware Evolutions.
It's a solid chapter.

Extra opinion on Pes2008/we2008: i choose we2008 over pes2008, and even if these games are great, to me physics, physicalty and inertia are too much streamlined. They are really good in terms of a.i, overall the best one, but they sacrifice too much everything else.

Anyone play the PSP games regularly? How do you stop your defenders fleeing the scene? Centre backs run out wide, full backs run into the middle, or all defenders run out when the CPU moves into the final third.

It happens more on the higher difficulty levels. It's presumably a misguided attempt to make the game more difficult. Unfortunately it makes it frustrating and borderline unplayable. I rage quit the other night! 😂
