On top of that Bailly has played for years in the same defense as Vermaelen with Belgian national youth teams...

Had a look at this keeper, and if he's anything like Preudhomme, i'd cream my pants.

Probably a geographically challenged question to you Gerd, but he speaks French too? I know Flemish is spoken too in Belgium (FC Brugge being a major team in Flemish speaking area?) Please correct me if i'm wrong!

Anywho, if he does speak French, though even as a dialect Belgo-Franc, he should fit in to the team and communcation with the backline - Gallas, Vermaelen, Clichy, Sagna and even Eboue.

Haven't seen the Ramsey incident, not sure if I want to actually, but just wanted to wish you luck for the rest of the season. Hopefully this time you can finish the job! :D

well tbh everyone looked horrified stoke players included. I didnt even notice the tackle it was out of the blue and for Shawcross he was in tears.
 
Apparently Ramsey's foot got caught in the turf, which is really unlucky.

There's no way Shawcross would have broken his leg if Ramsey's leg was free and moving during that collision.

And it wouldn't have been a red card if his leg hadn't broken, since it was so innocuous.

Trust Wenger and a portion of the Arsenal fans to go over the top though. :ROLL:
 
I agree with Milanista. No way this was intentional.
But still, it was very clumsy.
i saw the post match interviews with both managers...sad reactions. One would hope that managers stay a litle bit rational.

But the most important: good luck to Ramsey. Hope he may recover soon.
 
Once again, it's unbelievable. My thoughts are with Aaron and I hope too see him fully recovered as soon as possible. Also, an optmistic feeling tells me this injury won't be as bad as Eduardo's.

I recommend reading Arseblog, he has some good points. AW doesn't believe in coincidences and I agree. This whole culture of intimidating, bullying and being over physical with Arsenal has been seen as normal by everyone. No one likes Arsenal and that becomes more and more clear.

This is the root of it all. Media pundits and Sky commentators who know fuck all what they're talking about and, of course, the managers from the lesser teams. The guys who break our lads' legs are not psychopaths. They just go into the pitch with that frame of mind: kick'em, intimidate them, make'em uncomfortable cause Arsenal don't like it physical. Tony Pulis had said more than once that Arsenal whine too much about this. No wonder! Who would like to see one of their players with an open fracture every two years???

And let's not forget about the protection that Englishmen receive. When the perpetrators are English, the media play it down. But when Gallas stamps an English player (even if it didn't inflict an injury) they will talk about that for weeks.

This also applies for dives. When Rooney, Gerrard or others dive they get away with it. When Eduardo dives, it deserves media coverage for 1 month.

The media, the FA and the rest of the UK don't like Arsenal and don't like especially our foreign players. This is the overall feeling, of being against all the odds and against everyone. Now I hope more than ever that Arsenal wins the League, against all the odds and for Aaron.

I see your point and I kinda of agree, I stated earlier this season around the Eduardo dive game that some of this Arsenal players liked to be the tough kids that doesn't take crap home and that got them into unnecessarily fights.
Seeing that theory of yours now I understand why some of them act like that, but if their players think like that they are lost, what will they win with this?
You can see that Ramsey went with passion, for the lack of better word, in that tackle right? He could gave up when he saw the huge guy coming couldn't him? Did the team really needed to win that ball?
Other Arsenal players often act like this trying to prove they are machos too and this will only bring them harm, eventually Gallas will manage to hit someone, but whats the point, really?
The intimidating and bullying is working cause they are accepting it, you can see how nervous some players get once in a while.
Wenger needs to forget this theory and tell his players to play ball, and avoid this confrontations, only themselves can beat this, eventually other teams will see the bullying won't work.

Oh and tackles like these happens all the time, specially in your league, players seem to think that they need to win absolutely every f'n ball < this is the most important point I wanna make btw.
Fellaini went all macho the other day and he was the one that ended up injured, bad luck for him and terrible luck for Ramsey (for Gods sake I'm not comparing both cases), sometimes the 'bad guy' will take it other the innocent.
 
The way Stoke play against you is the same as the way they play against everyone else.

It just seems like they're intimidating you lot more because 99% of your team is made up of skinny little nancy boys.

It was a horrible injury, and a result of your player being quicker than the other, it wasn't malicious, Shawcross was clearly absolutely distraught at what'd happened and by all accounts, he's not the type of player who goes out with the intent of injuring people.

The only thing left to do now is wish Ramsey a speedy and proper recovery and hope he can get back to where he was,
 
I don't think everybody hates Arsenal. And I also agree that the players aren't meaning to break players legs.

But I totally agree that teams are told by their managers to go in especially hard against us.

The media, commentators etc have condoned how other teams kick us about and it is a way of playing against us and stopping us. It is one of the reasons this 'Arsenal haven't got a plan b' shit came about. The plan b is basically to play past teams kicking the shit out of us (Which shouldn't be allowed anyway).

Managers telling their teams to kick us abuout should be stopped.

3 players in 4 years in arsenal to have such bad injuries? not a coincidence.

I do think teams like stoke play a certain way with all the teams, but I do think they go in especially hard when they play Arsenal players. Just because our players are not as physically strong, does that mean you can go in harder to them and make risky challenges? I don't think so.

Shawcross didn't mean to break his leg, nor did the ones agaisnt Diaby and Eduardo. but they did it, they went in harder than maybe they should and it has come out this way.

I think the managers of the teams and the media need to stop ridiculing Arsenal and praising these teams when they kick us about and beat us. Because this is what is fueling these teams to go in game after game, kicking the shit out of us.

The penalty was a penalty aswell (not sympathy), he had his arm stretched out and it got in the way. We should have had a penalty before that anyway.

Anyway, I hope Ramsey has a speedy and full recovery, hopefully he can still become the player he was shaping up to be.

I think most people will know by now that althoug i'm Spurs fan, i love Arsenal's football and that i think Wenger is the most important foreigner transfer in the histroy of English football...but stop being paranoid...that's ridiculous.

It's not bollocks, that is your opinion. I don't think everybody is against us. I think they target our team because we don't have physically strong players. So they feel that we will 'chicken' out of challenges if they show that they are going to be rough with us.

Lots of poeople have acknowledged that the way to play (with alot of teams) against us is to push us about and kick us. It is a way alot of teams play against us. They play like that against other teams aswell, but I don't think with as much consistancy than with us.

So have your opinion and stop saying what we are saying is ridiculous.

Because we see our team week in and week out getting kicked about, commentators praising teams for stifling us by pushing us about and kicking us and condemning us for not having a plan B against teams that kick us about.

Then when we do the same, we are condemned and called hypocrites?! (I'm not saying that everyone is against us, but it does happen to us from some quarters)

We are targeted physically just as a team who is week on the counter is played against with counter attacks. Just happens that playing against us physically means alot that is wrong with the game, with alot of fouls and very hard challenges.
 
spot on! bobby views are looked at mostly on what you perceive and if you don`t like it don`t bother disagreeing :P . Arsenal doesn`t have 1 red card yet and the 2nd highest foul committed and 12th on fouls given in the league.

And maybe Shawcross didn`t mean to break Ramsey leg ,but he was angry and bothered earlier on 1 from a tackle from Cesc. Ballack lost his cool too and expressed on a daft tackle on Tevez (no broken bones though). The problem w/ these so called clumsy tackles is... it`s usually company by some sort of frustration and usually smaller clubs have those types, when the emotions get the better of them.

Is Arsenal hated? maybe in some aspect . Is manutd hated? sometimes for there long OT time. Chelsea hated? na! for what employing pensioners. Liverpool hated ? no just cause a few of mutd supporters are jealous of their past maybe. Point is everyone can view their opinions I know lots of ppl who hate another club for whatever reason daft or rightly so.

For years this thread has brought well level headed minds and I enjoy the free speech in here ,but most of all the respect and imo IF,IFFF!! Arsenal wins the league, it will be good for football a club that runs on it`s means and not like most of the world that live beyond it`s means.

I'm the first to agree that if Arsenal wins the league it will be good for football, but stop having self pity.
Stoke is playing physical against every team.
It's true that i never watch Arsenal "live"...but i watch them every week. Just like the horror tackle on Eduardo, this an isolated and very deplorable incident.
Why would Arsenal be more hated than Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea?

Here in Europe we have the impression that Arsenal is every football fan's second favourite team in England. It's true that we don't follow the club as close as you. But this gives us the chance to put things in perspective. A perspective that you guys clearly lack in this matter.

A couple of weeks ago i got positive comments because as a self declared Spurs fan i said that Arsenal plays the best football in the world. I think all of you would have said that i was very objective then (of course i wasn't). Now i'm saying (with as much objectivity) that you have to stop the self pity and of course that does not goes down very well. I don't care...

Am i talking bullshit: yes, we all do in threads like this.

I agree with Wenger when he says that tackles like this and exagerated physical play must stop. I don't agree when people say that Arsenal are targeted and that they suffer more than other teams..technical players (which Arsenal have in abundance) should be more protected than others however (but then there is the diving too...). Stoke fans could also say that Arsenal attracts more tackles by their way of playing very technical "futsal" football. Of course that is also "utter bollocks" (with all respect).

If i've offended anyone by saying something is "utter bollocks" then will apologize: sorry. This was only used as a figure of speech, not to implicate that somebody is stupid.If this is sounding too harsh, then it was not because i wanted it to be, but because as a non-native speaker i have no idea it would offend people

I agree that playing technically doesn`t bring more tackles especially when tackles came in on the run (eduardo /ramsey) BUT just like nani show boating brought gallas to kick`em tells me some players get too over the top. I can easily see players getting frustrate have a look at Tuncay when he was running around even the commentators was laughing how Arsenal moved the ball around him (imo) taking the mickey out. Too often I see Arsenal hold the ball to take on players an easy pass would do maybe it`s the youth in them. I really believe the captain (shawcross) try to protect his players just like cesc does.


I like to congratulate cesc a captain that showed class reaction unlike our last capt. :(

I agree that to some respects you can be more objective as with every football fan there is bias to their own team. But just because you support Tottenham and you have said some nice things about Arsenal, it doesn't mean everything you say is correct.

I am sure howether that teams are more physical when they play us and go in alot harder on us, so I dont agree with you on that matter.

but I do agree with you that not 'everybody hates us' I think we are respected quite a bit.

I think it is more to do with foreign players in the premier league getting treated alot more harshly than English players (In every team). Because we have the majority of our team as foreign, our team can get a bit more negatve press. But I don't think people hate us at all (Apart from spurs fans :)) )

Anyway as usual we will have to agree to disagree :))
 
When I say 'everybody' of course I'm not literally speaking. Many people respect The Arsenal, but let's face it, the majority of TV commentators and most managers from other british clubs have a negative attitude toward Arsenal.

Stoke play that same style against every team, but I'll bet Tony Pulis ask that 'extra bite' from his players when they play Arsenal. It has been set as a default procedure to stop Arsenal, an effective resource if you will. But it only comes from the lesser teams, as Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool can also play physically but they don't kick us out of the park... When they beat us is down to good football.

Some will say the smaller clubs don't have much of a choice, but the philosophy of playing good football can actually pay off for them as well. Hull beat us last season at the Emirates playing good offensive football.

People come up with the same shit all the time: Eduardo and Ramsey were too fast for the defender. Fucking hell. Then try and outpace them, not break them in half. This is the dodgiest excuse the likes of Andy Gray could ever have come up with.

Also to those saying we have paper legged nancy boys... Even if this is the case, 3 injuries like that in 4 years is still too much and by no means a coincidence.
