City is a threat I have no problem with they landed 3rd spot due to us bottling it. Mutd. N Chelsea r more stable. I would never want an ex to even cut saf lawn. Lol

Gervinho looked good today, not afraid to go at players and decision making looks really good. Very promising player.

Miyaichi has a work permit now aswell, looks like we will have attacking wingers coming out of our ears :)) although I expect Miyaichi to be used every now and again.

Alot of pace aswell in these players along with Arshavin and Walcott, so if it clicks up front and Van Persie stays fit it could be very exciting.
 
Indeed, I can't wait! This is what football is all about.

Teams do shit for periods of time, they do better in other periods, you go through the rough and the smooth and enjoy whatever bits you can.

I am going to do just that, if we win a game, I'm not going to sit there and piss and moan because we might not do it at the end of the season, I am going to be happy. I will be sad if we lose a game, the same as every season.

Hopefully we play much better than last season and show some heart and some fight.

Out of all of the defenders we have been linked with he is the one at the bottom of the list for me, but he is a good player. Again is he good enough? time will tell.

I think at the moment any defender we buy will be greated like the second coming by alot of fans.

if we are a top team why doesnt anytop world class players want to play for arsenal? we seem to struggle to attrack world class players like shneijder.

30m wont buy us a fabregas replacement. arsenal are idiots if they accept that offer. let fabregas rot in the reserves if he plays crap for us next season an strip him off his captaincy too. he still has 4 years left on his contract so why are Arsenal soo desperate and in a rush to sell him for? i can understand if it was Nasri with 1 year left on his contract but fabregas with 4 years?

Because at some point it might be in the club best interest to let him go. Having been at the club for so many years he has many relations within the squad, and keeping him like you suggest could spark reactions. Is it worth risking the morale of the whole squad when you reach something that looks like a point of no return? Not to forget what a waste his huge wages would be in the reserves.
Im just as pissed at Barca for their cunt tactics regarding Cesc, but when they have gotten so far into his head as it seems, then it might be the time to turn Cesc into £ and wave goodbye.
 
I was just listening to the Football Weekly podcast. All the pundits seemed to agree that Arsenal are for years punching well above their weight. They have made a ranking acoording to the investment/result ratio and Arsenal are top of the table by far. Their conclusion was that complaining Arsenal fans should have more realistic expectations.
I really like Jonney, and in a way i understand him, but as a neutral who likes Arsenal i think fans who act like that are behaving a litle bit like spoiled brats...

Arsenal is a very big club, but clearly one cut below the likes of Barcelona, Man Utd, Real Madrid, Milan, Inter and the "nouveaux riches" Chelsea and Man City... There is nothing wrong with that. I envy people who can watch football regularly at the Emirates.
Besides Barcelona and arguably Udinese, Arsenal still played the most attractive football in Europe.

PS: and look what happened to Udinese...their fans have every right to be gutted.

If anyone is interested, Arsenal's website is selling tickets for the Udinese home game for £35 (behind the goal, clock end), they are on general sale so anyone can buy them - they sting you a bit with booking fees and postage.

It's not a bad price for a competitive champions league game, even if the opposition are not that enigmatic.

Don't forget Borussia Gerd, imo the best football display in Europe.

Overall, I agree with you, clubs like Madrid, Barça and ManU are one step above Arsenal. However the Gunners are a very big club, if I was a football player (oh bloody pipe dream) I would choose Arsenal to show my talents without thinking twice.

Jadson featured for Brazil in the Copa America and the tragic campaign wasn't his fault.
He's a good player, but not brilliant IMO. The press treat this move as a Cesc replacement, but he's more offensive, more like a Nasri replacement.

He's agile, good passer and shooter.

AW was also considering Douglas Costa, Jadson's team mate at Shakhtar. He's a good player too! Before saying anything, don't forget Shakhtar beat us to the 1st place in our UCL group last season :P
We should get both, even to make it easier for both to adapt to the UK. But then again, there are work permit issues for non-EU players. Oh well...

With Enrique going to Liverpool for peanuts, you do wonder sometimes what Wenger's playing at.

Only note on the 'for the money Arsenal overachieve' thing - they do still have the 3rd of 4th highest wages. Not big transfers, but very high salaries.

Wenger is the highest paid employee lol . I do think we pay these kids 50k which is a lot but the high est you getting at arsenal will be 70k at best. Take 150-200k mutd offers plus high transfer you Chelsea n city are about par.

Mertesacker should be 6m too. There are many achieavable reinforcements and Wenger should move a lot faster. Especially now, funds coming from Fab and possibly Nasri.

The thing with wages is that Arsenal has less differences in the range of its players earnings. Fab is the top earner with 90k, but some less gifted players like Bendtner, Denilson, Diaby... they earn a lot! That's why it's difficult finding suitors for Nick for example.

Just saw 3 minutes of Oxlade-Chamberlain highlights and I like the kid already. Lightning speed, good finisher and he simply plays with such a joy. I hope he's able to develop well while keeping it real and being a simple lad, not letting it all go to his head.
That's not to say I'm not baffled about Wenger breaking the bank for his signing and being so hesitant to sign new players in more precarious positions.

Man Utd - £132m (£123m)

So not a world of difference between United, Pool and Arsenal imo.

Its not looking good for arsenal at all.

Nasri is chasing the £££ after having only half a good season and fabregas bowing down to barcelona's aggressive dirty tactics in getting him after they snubbed him when he was young and 16 years old whilst wenger took him under his wing and made him the player u see today.

such a shame to repay your values to the club after that but o well thats life. what can you do? move on u say? how can we move on when its very likely wenger wont buy 2 world class players to replace the two we are about to sell?

Have to disagree with this Gerd. I mean the fans aren't asking the club to bankrupt themselves to sign quality replacements. They are asking that the club actually spends the money they are earning from the sales of their top players. All the fans want is for Arsenal to be succesfull, yet it seems very clear that the club would rather be 4th place and with a nice profit every season than try to actually win something.

It's not like they can't win anything, Wenger has proven himself to be one of the best, however it seems pretty clear that they have decided that they only want to win stuff "on the cheap", otherwise it's not important. A very frustrating stance for the fans imo.

Ofcourse you could argue that Arsenal have had the foresight to set themselves up to be the "top dog" when the FFP rules come into full effect (Liverpool look to be trying to do the same whilst seriously investing now to get a young strong squad together). However if the likes of City and Chelsea can agree "dodgy" commercial deals, Madrid continue their state sponsership, Barca continue to hold clubs hostage to get the best players on the cheap and maybe the Glazers can do some creative assett valuations, Arsenal won't be any better off.

But that's fine, it's not like football is about winning...

And ofcourse you also have the fact that the blatant issue's in the team haven't been adressed in nearly....4/5 years? They continue to be ridiculously injuryprone, still haven't bought a decent goalie and the defense continues to be poor. And seem to lack a single player that has a winning mentality.

With today's news it looks pretty hopeless imo, I think Arsenal might really be an equal with Liverpool and Spurs for 4th this season.

Keep stressing this but its by far the worse time in a long time to be an arsenal fan now as we could potentially finish outside the top 4.

Relying on youngsters and constantly aiming just to finish in the top 4 wont last long.

if you want to succeed in life you have to have high targets.
 
City our unfortunately (IMO) a cut above you if the window was to close now.

I think Arsenal our behind a front 3 of United,City and Chelsea but IMO ahead of Liverpool and Spurs for now. that could probably change next season but I doubt it.
 
I think jadson is a good remplacement for fabregas....hes a solid player with an amazing technique. He will fit into the squad nicely. The only problem is We aint a better squad, its just a remplacement. Im loosing faith in Wenger but Ill let the season start to say the least =p
 
Every season Arsenal are supposedly out of the top 4 for 3 season straight.No worries!!! fuck off pundit cunce! Cesc been more injured than fit, We sold Barca a injury prone player instead of improving their defense they bought a player purely on PRIDE! Arsenal will do nothing more than get them back by buying their youth and resale them back for a small amount of fee!

Cesc was our best player when fit, maybe he`ll get better. He`s gone and I hope RM wins the lot!I always have a soft spot for RM , My father`s team . Now, I know why my older son support Liverpool. I`m gutted to say the least not ,because Cesc left or Nasri next, but the fact no new signing are on the horizon , and with Wenger doggy lies not to disrupt players on the squad mentally . It puts me off more( temporary ).


Is Arsenal weaker ? atm on paper yes! ,but if a fan looks on paper and not as a unit. Then , I say your eyes will deceive you. I want signings not to fill my expectation ,but it`s been overdue to change the system. Our system was clearly to make Cesc the better player. So we can change our new system for the next best player. When focusing on the attacking (henry) we won stuff then. I hope we can focus w/ the team as a whole and not on a player. I have a feeling that in the end, pundits will say Wenger was smart to offload players who couldn`t be arsed anymore. Carling Cup final I saw a injured n a defeated look on Wenger. Nasri wasn`t influential enough and look at the players gone from there. Nasri,Clichy,Eboue, Bendtner a few were let go just to clear the wages.


Wenger knows he gave to the team that didn`t give back and the last straw was broken. Silent Stan is not dumb , he works n leads from the back like plowing the fields with a yoke on a ox. 4th is never enough and Wenger has to rebuild a team and get them to work harder than ever. I must say I never though 2 players leaving towards the end or before the window shuts. Wenger`s back is against the wall let`s see what sort of character comes out. They say a man who is left for dead and doesnt die does extraordinary stuff I say get behind your club and show fans...We our not define by other ppl words but by the actions we take.
