I'll explain myself: Man Utd only won 3 points too with 8-2. Perhaps Ferguson should have restrained his players a litle bit. When Man Utd will visit the Emirates later in the season, they will face an extremely motivated Arsenal team at a time when a loss might hurt more...so strategically this 8-2 win might not be the best thing that could have happened to Man utd. For their fans it must be wonderfull of course.

ACtaully the 8-2 defeat for arsenal is a positive and here is why

FAct is there was an 80% chacne off them losing this game and 20% cahcne of draw if we were realistic beforehand.

Had it been a close game and arsenal lose..big deal. nothing noted, life goes on.

But due to this 8-2 defeat the spotlight is on Arsenal, Wenger and his staff this makes a few things occur.

1. The players have to take a look at themselves, get more motivated and sort themselves out and ask questions.

2. Wenger. He is under pressure. He has no choice but to spend and spend big and on quality players.

3. Arsenal will now be wrote off for everyhing. Top 4? perhaps now for them. Europe. Nope. PReimier league winners..Nope...They can only go up from here. Expectations are low..Top players sold and a result like this.

4. Other teams get cocky. Oh so CHelsea, Man city, Liverpool etc..will now be writing Arsenal off or not see them as title threat. Maybe they become lenient against arsenal...


Really Arsenal can only go up from here there is no way down unless they go on a string off defeats to lower teams.


Though it is hard to brign in the players and attract the top players hopefully we do..and soon...though I dont hold much hope

End off day a 1-0 defeat would not force wenger, the board or the players to do anything or force any needed chnages.

Also as pointed out on the BBC anyone see Rosciky at the 1st Wayne Rooney Fk goal. he doesnt even look around..Wtf was that all about?

I mean he just thinks oh this is a good shot its a goal I aint gonna look back? Weird?

ANd also funny not for us though was ANderson on rooneys 2nd FK goal...hes starting at the goalie the whole time and watches it go in the net

PS- Benyoun though a good player adds nothing for us...he is not gonna make us any better. We need solid players not another flair lightweight type. We need a new Viera. A new Henry wouldnt go a miss either lol...Perhaps a new Bergkamp also, and a Tony Adams, maybe a David Seaman too?

well said. seems like just because his past success was great. he know has a god given right to stay with arsenal forever and can fuck up team as bad as it is and people will still support him.

Bobby and co, diddnt u say that if he doesnt buy any new experience players you will consider his postion?

is that still valid or was it all "talk" ?

Seriously i dont know why people are blaming most of it on the board though when wenger himself has said he has money to spend. yea he could be lying but you cant believe a "rumour" over hard called facts and that fact is wenger says we have money.

Wenger is not a great manager imo. he is soul responsible of how we defend, what positions he plays players and lack of plan b/tactics. Surely you cant blame the board for the above points? is that not wengers job to come up with tactics and know the best position for each player to play in as well as training them to defend?

Fact is we need a solid force in the center of midfield. This is what we are sorely lacking. Even if Fabergas was not sold.

We need a solid defensive strong type midfielder as I said earlier a la Viera.

In fact we need 2 strong central midfielders now. TBh Joey Barton wouldve been a decent signing some needed aggression in the middle of the park for us. Well hes not the most skillful player in the world but hes gone now.

I dont know whos available, who will come and who we can get now tbh

Your posts are good mate (pes4lyfe), but the situation at the club is a shambles.

None of our players - bar Van Persie, and maybe Vermaelen would be a first teamer in another top premiership teams.

Furthermore, since Kroenke and Gazidis have been in, we have gone about asset stripping (thanks for the link Edmundo). Why the hell do we have the 3rd (4th after olympics) biggest stadium in the country, and the highest prices, when we have a team who would have struggled in Championship on Sunday? Cut the bullshit - NOW.

No one is decisive over transfers. How the hell are we still trying to create a team now, with the window closing tomorrow, and 3 games into the season? We were 15 points behind United last season - a team we were realistically trying to catch. 4 players plus medicals? Ain't gonna happen is it? We'll have to trundle along until January fingers crossed. Alex Ferguson did the right thing, early transfers, no squabbling over money, feet up, players integrated, reap rewards. We are rushing around like spasticated novices (apologies if this sentence is offensive - but it's anger that is tempering this email.)

We need a whole new spine, as you quite rightly stated Pes4lyfe. I also think we need to go back to basics and get rid of the pseudo 443/451 and go with a more robust 4411. However, i'm not sure we have any commanding, gutsy players who throw themselves into tackles, too scared to get their new 'Nike Air Vapour Squared GTI Turbo Executive ++' shoes dirty.

From my thoughts for this year - Jan window included..


Goalkeeper - senior as backup to Wojech.

CB - get rid of Squillaci. Move Djourou back to his original position DMF. Two commanding CB's acquired.

LB - Cover for Mr Brittle Bones - Gibbs. I don't want to play Vermaelen there when he is our strongest 'current' CB

DMF - A real menancing destroyer - send Frimpong out on loan. I still think he will learn from a season away from the club. Love him to bits - his enthusiasm, drive, commitment, but his penchant for over-eagerness is his downfall. He needs to be more controlled in his aggression -> is that possibe? Song -> as a senior professional, he should know that such violence on the pitch will endanger the team. He should have been fined for his stamp.

CMF - A creative wizard - Gourcuff? Not sure on his form, but who else? Hazard? Goetze? Diego? Diaby - get going, don't let the door hit you in the ass. Can't believe we pay him such wages, for such outputs on the pitch.

SMF - Ship out Arshavin - or move him to a new position. His wastefulness is untold, as is his laziness. His new found agression in tackling is just another red card waiting to happen. Something is obviously wrong here.

CF - A real box striker. What's the point of crossing the ball when we have no one in there? I lost count the number of times we cross ... and it's Van Persie crossing the ball :(

However, will players want to play for us after watching that debacle and already 8 points behind our so called top 4/6 peers? So... what do we do?

I think we need a radical shakeup - this has gone on too long. Defensive coaching - are we playing highline? sitting deep? offside? no offside? It was a joke on Sunday - the defensive coach (Primorac?) really needs a fucking kicking. Also, training needs to be 'physical' - i'm not talking about violent, but at the level of the rigours of a full game. More match tempo in training will bring around the gym phenomenon - muscle memory.

Medical team / facilities - broken record.

I'm not expecting much now, and i think it'll be damage limitation for a while. I therefore propose the following for a while - if we have new players.

However, one important thing, is that's it's not just the personel, but the tactics as well. You can't play certain football if the personel are not of the calibre to produce the results. We seem to be far from this. Furthermore, the number of times we lost the ball, and the jogged back was infuriating.

When United and Barca do it, they hound the player till they get the ball back. Possession is the key to winning matches.

'Big' teams know that.

Ok well yeh

Van Persie and Arshavin (if he plays to his best) are top players

Then we have some youngsters ''with potential'' Wilshire, Ramsey et al

Walcott and Rosicky, gervino, Chamach are decent on their day

Really atm we are no better than Everton or Villa or Spurs etc..nevermind competing with city, chelsea, utd

Long gone are the Wenger golden era days of Bergkamp, Henry, Adams, viera etc....Fabergas and NAsri sales really end it all....

Sacking Wenger isnt gonna change the squad.

Whether its Wenger or someone new its a new squad we need. And is Wenger getting the cash and get the right players to create the new team?

And if not Wenger whos to say another manager will?

The squad as it is is poor regardless of the manager
 
And also spending 15 mil on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

was that really what we needed?

I dont think so whether he devlops or not time will tell but really we needed 15 mil spend elsewhere on solid recgonised players
 
I dont understand why we didnt try to get Afellay or Maxwell in Cesc deal.Afellay may even consider us becouse of Cesc's , Alexis and Alcantara!!!

Na I think they do, well someone creative and quality to replace the hole Fabregas and then Nasri have left behind, a player to play infront of a Song/Wilshire midfield.

So Santos (LB) and Mertesacker (CB) look to be in which must be a good relief for Arsenal (I was expecting no one). do Arsenal have a cover for RB?

Still think they need a top creative player now, if they can bring one in then I'd be pretty happy with that. it would pretty much be the same level of quality of last year which would get you top 4 and then restructure in the Summer.

I agree with almost everything in your angry post there. Wenger's been sluggish in the transfer market, and to make matters worse, he's one cheap bastard. 2 days from the deadline and I'll wager he's still counting pences to bring our much needed reinforcements.
If only he shipped the dead wood, sold the wantaways and started rebuilding early in the summer... SAF did just that at United and you see the results. Ashley Young playing like he's been in that team for 2 seasons.

Another thing that gets on my nerves is RVP's constant crossing to no one, when he's the sole CF. Well, even if there's someone in the box, it's either Arshavin, Gervinho or Theo! We're playing midgets there! I think also AW has some kind of allergy to playing tall CF's. When we had Bendtner, he played him wide... WTF eh?

That said, I completely agree we should go back to 4 4 2. If no new strikers come, we could have RVP as CF and Arshavin as SS (which is his real position BTW). Arshavin is a guy who goes MIA for portions of a match and then produces something unique out of the blue. Like I always say, I still prefer a lazy genius over a hard working chump. Worthy to note here that Diaby is neither a genius, nor hard working! Enough said.

It's all I hope mate. Per and Andre would be a massive boost and provide international quality and experience. I'm not a big fan of Andre, but he's much more solid and physical than what we have.

Arsenal does have a backup for RB, which is poor Jenkinson, who has been thrown in the fire. He did quite alright against Udinese, you know. But to expect him to be on top of things against United at the OT would be a long shot now, wouldn't it?

You must have your heart having us stay in the top 4. Im seeing alot of and before the 8-2 mauling .anyhow i just want m'via and Im confident we'll be a force again.
 
Forgot to mention, it looks as though the Korean striker is a done deal.

I've read somewhere that there's even a chant for him already: "He'll shoot, he'll score, he'll eat your labrador! Park Chu Young, Park Chu Young, Park Chu Young" :LOL:

I still think Chamakh is a good CF, but the team isn't playing the appropriate football for him. Of all the players you lost the last recently the two you miss most are not the most popular among the fans: Flamini and (most of all) Adebayor. He was a techically stronger version of Chamakh, good in the air and in the more technical short play (and much, much better than Van Persie who is vastly overrated...).
You need a hard man as CMF-DMF. When on holiday in France i heard rumours that Arsene is after Mvila, that is the type of player you need. As for a creative type of player. Forget about Hazard. Hazard is a big talent but everybody knows that, so he will be expensive. There are alternatives. Do you know that in our national team Hazard is most on the bench, our national coach prefers either Chadli (Twente) or Dries Merstens (PSV). At the moment they are as good (or maybe even better) as Hazard, but nobody knows them. That is the type of player Arsenal should buy (and not necessarily those two, but if here in Belgium thera are two cheaper alternatives for Hazard, then there must be dozens others).

You definitely need a CB and also a (first) GK.

Hi Gerd - i was being very pessimistic, and most probably thinking out loud, which in some occassions should have been kept to myself.

I was doodling formation on the underground on my way to work this morning. Lady next to me said 'fat chance' :LOL:

Lets just concentrate on the first two years :))

Mertsacker was my first choice at the beginning of the summer when all of the defenders were mentioned so I am very happy with this, also getting the brazilian for left back sounds great.

Chu-young sounds decent but not amazing, but he will be another one like Gervinho to freshen things up and work his socks off for us.

If we can get a midfielder (or two) by the end of tomorrow I would be ecstatic, but it is looking quite good at the moment :DD
 
I heard we are gettign a Korean double whammy deal.

Hes meant to have lighting speed, plays up and down the wing in 5th gear. Inspirational player who can really Raleigh up his teammates.
