Fucking hell, to let a game go like this is unacceptable. No excuses for that. I've had enough of Wenger's tactics!
 
Pheeew... Massive relief in the end. Cazorla bailed us out yet again.

But there's not denying we got ourselves into trouble in the first place. I cannot think of another Premier League team that puts itself under such risks at the back while leading.
It was 1-0 and our defence line high up the pitch, how can we get caught with our pants down like that when the game was under our control?
Wenger must rethink the balance of his tactics ASAP. No defence would look good playing under this suicidal system.

And another thing that can be learned from Villa's goal: Szczesny cracks under pressure. At 21, no keeper can be relied upon the way we depend on him. In Villa's goal, it looked like his hands were made of cardboard.

There are a lot of thrills and frills to be felt till the end of the season. By signing only Monreal in Janurary we didn't exact tip the scales in our favour but I still think 4th spot (our trophy) is feasible. Not that settling for this is an acceptable though, given Arsenal's stature.
 
We won is what is important at the moment. There are going to many more games like this, so as long as we win at the moment, I am just thanking the stars.

If we let Spurs have half the chances Villa had though we will lose against them, so I really hope we tighten up before Sunday....I know they won't but you always have hope ;))

If we can get a result against Spurs then it is all looking a bit more rosey. It's a big if, but anything can happen in those games.

At the moment, we have a 5 point gap over Everton and we are 6 points off of 2nd (although the 3 teams above have games in hand of course).

We have to hope the games today and tomorrow go in our favour somewhat.

It is going to be a stressful last 11 games or whatever we have left, lets hope they fight every last bit of the way.

Arsenal is currently punching exactly in their weight class, possibly under performing by a few points if you're picky. Arsenal is currently 5th placed, one point behind Spurs at 4th and two points behind Chelsea at 3rd. City is 9 points ahead at 2nd place, and that is also within range.

There are really no good reasons for bitching about Wenger, because it is just a matter of a small adjustment in the squad and you will be in the race for FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League trophy (by one way or another).

I'd personally prefer you'd sack Wenger, because he is good for you.
 
I'm praying for a West Ham win tonight and us winning on Sunday!

I am in the Holy Land so I might as well make use of it, anybody want anything? I'm asking for some more money as well....hopefully he is in a good mood.

They were back in the day and still get attacked at away games because of it, but I don't think they are any more Jewish than other clubs now.

But God stopped supporting Spurs because of Gary Mabbutt, he just didn't like him.

He loves Bergkamp, people have questioned too much though and people have started questioning if Bergkamp is in fact God?.......you never see them in the same room together....just saying.
 
Arsenal announce 1/2 yr. profits of £17.8m and cash reserves of £123m up £7m. It's truly a shocking bit of business when football takes the passenger seat.
 
Agree up to a point. That 18m and some of the cash should immediately be made available for transfers in the summer. And I assume it will be.

But I do find it pretty depressing that the most profitable club in the entire league can only post (if it doubles) 35m of profit in a season. That's one truly class player at today's prices, or maybe 2 pretty good ones.

Think about that. The most well run, profitable club in the league can barely afford 1 transfer a season of the type that the two sugar daddys make 3/4 times a year.

If that's all Arsenal can manage, what of the Evertons, the Newcastles or even worse the Wigans hope to achieve?
 
Arsenal will only buy at Marshall (overstock outlet) and wouldn't dare buy at Macy. In other words the Cazorla's that normaly wouldn't come in , will come due to their club circumstance. That mean the team is being built on players that have a cheap sale w / a high end market price.

The advantage is Arsenal won't buy on credit , but cash! The Mutd ,City and Chelsea bring players that makes an impact , because they're brought in for a certain task. Arsenal is like pop cheap maybe we can play him in that spot.

It's common knowledge that I truly like Arsenal, but read a couple of books about the club (Arsènal for example) and you will know that Arsenal is far from the best run club in the EPL... only think about (for example) Everton or Swansea...
 
No matter what happens this season, with the new revenue coming in etc then this summer we will be in a very good position. No more excuses can be made about the stadium etc

We have come out of the other side now in terms of being shackled by the decision to build the stadium. We now have to invest the money into the best players we can get.

If Wenger is still here (I think he will be, unless we drop to mid table) then he just has to improve the squad and make sure we are battling on all fronts next season. He needs to spend the money available.
 
I dont think the money will be spent. I think the board will hoard it, they will probably use one of the following excuses:

- "Waiting for UEFA / PL Financial Fair Play to drive down transfer fees"
- "Waiting for uncertainty over Wenger's position to be clarified"
- If finishing 4th: "Waiting for the CL Playoff to be over to know if we are in CL or not", then "No time left to buy"
- If finishing 5th: "Waiting for next season when we are back in the CL and can attract world class players"
 
The Arsenal board doesn't give the impression to care about the club, they only seem to care about their investment...

I don't think they will say any one of the above. If they said any of these then people will go crazy. I don't think they have used those excuses before? and it doesn't sound like them.

They usually say the money is available to strengthen the team and then Wenger does or doesn't use the money available to him.

We seem to recently be spending the money that is coming in from player sales, but not spending above that. As we are not planning to sell many players (apart from the deadwood, where we will not receive much money from) then they need to go into the coffers and dig deep to improve the team.

If we finish below 4th which is looking probable (Spurs seem to be consistent) only way is if Chelsea implod completely. Then the fans will make it known and the board will put some pressure on Wenger to improve the team. They won't like the decrease in match day revenue and the loss of Champs league income.

They are many things, but not stupid. They will know that we need to get back into the Champs league as quickly as possible, that means improving the team/Squad.

As you say they seem to only spend what they receive in fees, I remember reading somewhere that Arsenal had only had a net spend of +£10m once in the last 10 or so years and on average they tend to have a net spend a lot lower than this each season. In fact if you look at teams like Stoke, Villa and Sunderland these teams have had a per season net spend a lot higher than Arsenal over the last few years.

Yeah definitely, they need to start spending more than they are getting in. They literally have to now. I can't see any big name players (If you can call them that :PP) leaving, they all have decent contracts and seem content at the moment (apart from Sagna, who may want to leave). So they won't have the income from player sales that they have had over the last few seasons and if they want to improve the club they need to just spend.

we arguably need 3-4 new additions to our squad and to get rid of the same amount (the ones that never play/on loan etc).

I say just get 50-60mill along with whatever we get from Arshavin, Bendtner, Denilson, Chamakh (maybe a couple of others) add that on top and get in 4 real quality players. Maybe get 10-15mill for all of those? (If they want to leave)

It's more than doable and we have the money to do it. The thing is if we do that, I can really see us being back in the hunt for the league and other trophies.

But 60mill is a big amount of money and would see a huge shift in Wenger/Boards thinking. But as I said, they need to do something this drastic, especially if we don't get into the Champs league next season. (Of course if we don't get into the champs league getting those quality players becomes a bit more difficult).

I think they will realise, Wenger is coming into his last season of his contract and I'm hoping he just goes 'fuck it, they want me to spend money, I will show them' :DD....I can dream.

If it's right what people say/think that the board just care about their investment and not the club. Then they will have to take action anyway, otherwise their investment is going to fall dramatically with loss of match day revenue and being out of the Champs league for consecutive seasons.
 
Yes but Arsenal is still doing much better than Stoke, Sunderland and Villa...

I've read somewhere that only Chelsea and Man City have spent more than Stoke over the last years (don't remember exactly how much time).
That is kind of useless, every year Stoke buys "flair" players but they still end up playing long ball football and the more technical players end up like fringe players (i was thinking about the good Turkish player who also played for Boro among others...).

Anyway, every year Arsenal seems able to pick themselves up in the match against Spurs and then start a good run...i have a funny feeling that this will happen again. Somehow Arsenal always end up winning against Spurs...let's hope Adebayor does not do stupid things this year.

Arsenal should buy Jovetic, imo he will become one of the best players in the world.
 
Well the match for NLD is pride foremost . It won't determine any outcome. We both have to play the Manchester clubs , although on paper our fixture seems feasible . A win will be great and a draw will have to do... Arsenal last 3 matches were left w/ 10 men and 5-2 score line is odd to have so many spuddies talking about being better and will finish above . So here's looking at you kid *adebayor*bale*parker.
 
He thoroughly deserved it.
Now it's only waiting for Viera, from the same era as Adams, Henry and Bergkamp, but as important as the 3 others.
In fact Arsenal never really came over Viera's departure.
 
That's true he was fantastic and we could definitely do with someone like him now.

Diaby could be similar, but we all know about Diaby :ROLL: and also I don't think he has the defensive capabilities Viera had.

So many great players, hopefully a few of the current crop can forge a name for themselves in the same vain as those Arsenal players.
