True that. Arsenal is probably the only team who gets caught with their pants down like that while leading the score.

It is part of the naivité that we witness year in, year out.

That's why Wenger can't cope with the likes of Mourinho, who's more than happy to sit back and hit us on the break. You can bet your house that Wenger's side will be commiting 8 men forward like that even winning the match. It is the only Wenger has his team playing and this is mental.

The other outrageous thing is using Monreal as CB, when he could use Chambers there and move Monreal to right fullback. I can't stress this enough.
Swansea's winner epitomises what I've been saying: Chambers got easily beaten by Montero's pace, and a cross that went floating slowly into our box was nodded away by a striker who's much taller than Monreal is. I'm pretty sure Chambers would have firmly contested that header.

It's madness, by definition: Wenger is repeating the same thing and expecting a different result.
 
I'd rather put Bellerín as RB instead of Monreal. The only position Monreal should play is LB or as a make-shift winger when we're up (Wenger has done this before and it has worked).
 
Yep I think everyone would rather see Chambers in the middle and Bellerin at right back, both have shown good early signs in these positions early in the season.

Very inexperienced but we have to try something, the only problem we have now is that we have United in the next game so I doubt he will change it then.

To be honest though if we just defended properly when we are leading as a team,this would solve most of the problems we are seeing.

The point is Wenger is one of the most experienced managers in the game and he's supposed to be top class. Everybody and their mothers knew that the defense was too short. We all predicted a highly likely defensive crisis, so I really can't imagine how Wenger didn't expect it either. The only explanation is that he didn't really think anything would happen and wanted to take his chances which is not really excusable.

The same goes for the DMF position. Arteta is finished and Flamini is getting there too. You didn't have to get Khedira, just an energetic DMF squad player would have sufficed.
 
So y'all remember a few years ago when basically your whole defense was injured and you played a few kids, and there may have been something about an 8-2 but everyone pretty much just forgot about it because of the injuries?

Can we do that again please ;)
 
There it is. In the battle of fuck ups, you can never outplay Arsenal.

It's uncanny, the talent for collapsing.
 
Arsenal went gungho far, far too soon. You had like 45 mins left with the huge amount of added time. You were acting like you needed 2 goals to win the title.
Played right into the hands of a poor Utd side. They hadn't even had a shot on target yet

Yh could never get too excited by watching us dominate a match. wasteful ,wasteful & woeful chances, watch the replay and you will see Alexis open in the final 3rd attacks (Jack) Sanchez alone and (Welbekz) Sanchez alone.

good to see Giroud showing the boyz how 2 score from outside the box.

As painful as it is to admit, a Mourinho-managed team would have scored 4-nil past United in that first half alone.

I think my school team when I was 10 years old squandered less chances than this Arsenal side.
This is yet another capitulation to our now very extensive list.

When you see how weak that United defense was and how our team still looked short of confidence to trash them, you can tell a lot of whats wrong with Arsenal.

A team usually mirrors its manager, and in this case Arsenal is pretty much an image of Wenger: broken, defeated and low on confidence even when things go their way.

Sometimes I think if United fields their youth team against us, this mental block will still be there and Wenger will be unable to beat them.

We need someone ruthless at the helm. Enough is enough. We need a manager (and players) who can smell blood, spot weaknesses and take advantage.

The way things are now, we have self-doubt everywhere and that Wilshere couldn't score face to face with De Gea, when a simple outside of the boot touch would have suffice, pretty much sums up our situation. These players lack belief, and when the opponents are one of the big clubs, things become worse.

It doesnt matter if it is United, a big club. This is the worst United team I have seen in decades of watching Premier League and that this was their FIRST away win under Van Gaal, speaks volumes to us.

Wenger has to step aside and make way for a hungrier, ruthless manager. Only then things will change.
 
the problem is time will pass and players will get fit n return and a few straight wins . Arsenal will be back in for contention...top 3rd /4th. Its painfully scripted ! Wenger creates misery to solve it :::::

Anyway, I can't make all the games down here due to circumstances and commitments but the games I go to, I stay until the end. If you are at the game you stay til the end no matter what. Anybody who leaves a game before it's finished is a Muppet! End of.

Cheers Jonney, now that I have seen that video I have changed my mind completely because I am not capable of making my own opinion.

The one thing that has fucked up our season is Wenger not buying cover for our defence, it was stupid amd has cost us dearly this season amd Wenger should be heavily criticised for this and I am extremely pissed off about it.

But no matter what that guy says I think we have made lots of changes regarding our spending and the players that have been brought in, the last two seasons we have brough in two world class players......the reason we can do this is because we have to be run like a normal club we simply can't buy 4 world class players in one go like Chelsea or Man City.

It is a work in process, but what is ridiculously frustrating is I hink we have a very good team, but we took 10 steps backwards with our current defensive problem that could have been easily solved before he league started.

I think we have a great mixture of old/young players and the quality to succeed with them, so I really don't think that it is all bad at all.

mediocrity is finishing midtable and not competing for anything, we are competing and we get into the biggest cup competition in the world every season.

The fact people are demanding for more is great and that is how it should be, especially with the prices of the tickets etc

Yesterdays game we outplayed them for the game, we had many chances to put the game to bed if it were not for poor finishing and heir goalkeeper being man of the match and a ridiculous mistake we would have won that game by at least a couple of goals.

i think Wenger set the team out perfectly against Man United and we had them under pressure for large parts of the game and again our players should have scored at least a couple of those chances until the fuck up our defence played quite well also.

Very frustrated and pissed off, but I still would like Wenger to stay :SMUG:

I don't think the team was set in the best manner to exploit United's weak spots. It just so happens we are a very offensive team and United had a makeshift defense - yet we couldn't score when it mattered!
We know Wenger rarely changes anything of his game plan. What I could see was Alexis Sanchez busting his gut to chase down every United back pass and it occasionally worked when De Gea miskicked and a clear chance was fashioned for Wilshere (who went on the squander it).

When Wenger said in his pos-match conferece "we pressured high up the pitch" he really meant Alexis. No other player in this current squad delivers what he does.

This team needs more balls. That's one thing, for sure. Arteta being captain gives you an idea.
Too many players tend to disappear when the going gets tough, some of them aren't good enough, and some others just plain and simple bottle it when they have a chance. We need more players who can step up to the plate and get the job done.

But most of us know the problem lies deeper than that. Players leave and players join, and we still have the same recurring problems for the past 5 or 6 years now.
Wenger's tactics have been proven to be obsolete and predictable. The likes of Mourinho and Klopp can read him like a book. The belief, the confidence that the manager instils (or lack of it) surface with these players too in those gutless performances.

Some players look scared to score, or is it the Wenger's philosophy of trying to score the perfect goal, passing it into the net? We need guys who will bury it into the net. Alexis has been the one able to do it and he's new to the club.

The defensive problems we face, they're obvious. We all agree it was very stupid not to buy cover for defense and this predicament we're in is all Wenger's fault. Blah blah, we covered it enough.

But look at yesterday, and you could see United were in deeper shit than we were. Two 19 year old centre halves, a winger as right back and they lost their left back early, and played for over 70 minutes with Ashley fucking Young as their left back!

Yet we couldn't exploit any of that, we couldn't score when it mattered.

Of course United had better attacking options: Rooney, RvP and Di Maria are a world class combo by all standards. But everywhere else (apart from goal keeper) they were rubbish! We have a better team.
Even our current defense is better than theirs right now, and our midfield is much superior.
We managed to keep Di Maria and RvP quiet and their defense were there for the taking, those kids McNair and Blackett were like lambs to the slaughter. And yet the team turns in that pathetic display.

The bitter irony is that once Arsenal are out of the competition they desperately want to play in, then they can start their good run in order to be in that same competition (i'm talking about the CL of course).

Whilst we are in agreement that arsenal are pretty poor considering the stability and spending power the club has at present, I dont get why last nights win being our first away win is a some sort of indicator to why we were "there for taking", what difference does that make, arsenal have won 1 more away game than us.

Plus I'd like to add that arsenal have only won 2 league games at home, 2 games FFS!

Obviously taking into account the facts that in football terms its a long time since Utd have seen arsenal as a threat (we even took four points last season), all that lambs to the slaughter talk is bollocks mate.

I repeat arsenal have only won 2 games at home, and we're nearly in december. LVG knew what he was doing, he opted for a back 3 and once Paddy, Tyler and Chris settled into the game (most half decent teams will dominate at home so is to be expected) we never looked liked conceding.

arsenal were just, well, typically arsenal, most teams and managers have had the measure of wenger for years, maybe you just couldn't be arsed but I find it very funny you only used Jose and Klopp as examples of managers who outwit Mr Predictable himself. last years FA Cup win aint fooling anyone, same old arsenal, pretty much how you described the team, you could copy and paste this into any synopsis of arsenals end of season report for the last 8 or 9 years..

So if arsenal do have the "better team" then I seriously question your definition of what a "better team" is.

Maybe you would be better off lowering you expectations of what your team is capable of, then maybe your disappointment at yet another predictable season of wengers ideas wont be so intense.

The invincible team was a long time ago gooners. To put that into perspective, The Last Title winning captain of arsenal is currently coaching at man city and will be managing them in the next couple of seasons.

I also think that the whole United winning away from home thing is silly and doesn't really prove a point. United have slowly been getting better and they have a ridiculous forward line. But they are suffering from alot of injuries.

I think you can also argue we have half of our defence and half of our attack out at the moment (Giroud is just back)

I consider our first choice attack with Giroud and Walcott in it, and of course two of our first choice defenders missing. Also with Ozil out (you can argue he wasn't playing well, but I still think we miss him, especially with Cazorla not playing great).

I am certain if we had our first 11 playing for most of this season, we would be up there in the table, not far off of Chelsea.

So I am not of the opinion that our team is mediocre or shit, whatever people like to say, we just don't have the back up mainly in defence (which again was a major mistake).

Anyway, I know I am flogging a dead horse in here, so I won't go on :DD

nah i dont drink alcohol, just heard/read alot of stuff today that gives us zero credit, we cant win, we beat a team like QPR, we're shit cos its QPR, we beat arsenal and we're shit cos arsenal should have won easily...

then I read that post and I went all William Foster, my eyebrow twitched and I vented.

@ Vann - never read what the press says about United. It'll only drive you bonkers - 'journalists' are paid to get page views and ad clicks, not report news. The days of learning anything remotely interesting from the media about football ended a long time ago.

Bad news on big clubs sells, United more than any other team in England.

Watch the matches yourself or with freinds, and make your mind up there.

I watched it, thought we were weak in the first 15, but then settled into normal United v. Arsenal format - give Arsenal the ball but they create half chances, then we create very good chances on the break. It's same as it has been for 5 years.

Di Maria should have ended it at 3-0, but even with that scoreline the media wouldn't give United credit. Last time we won the league we were 'the worst ever premier league champions'. Ferguson's success and attitude towards the media (calling them on their, utter, utter bullsh*t of a career) has poisoned the third estate against us, so I just try to avoid it :)

Also the goal that changed the match was due to Fellaini pushing Gibbs into Sczc, if he didnt do that then Sczc would have got the ball and it wouldnt have been a fuck up.

But in saying that even if we were searching for the goal it is criminal that we left the defence so exposed, especially as Man United were built for counters.

Anyway it is done now, lets get the loss from Dortmund out of the way :PP and hopefully get a good run of games together. (I've not even looked at the fixture list)
