arsenal were just, well, typically arsenal, most teams and managers have had the measure of wenger for years, maybe you just couldn't be arsed but I find it very funny you only used Jose and Klopp as examples of managers who outwit Mr Predictable himself. last years FA Cup win aint fooling anyone, same old arsenal, pretty much how you described the team, you could copy and paste this into any synopsis of arsenals end of season report for the last 8 or 9 years..



So if arsenal do have the "better team" then I seriously question your definition of what a "better team" is.

Maybe you would be better off lowering you expectations of what your team is capable of, then maybe your disappointment at yet another predictable season of wengers ideas wont be so intense.

The invincible team was a long time ago gooners. To put that into perspective, The Last Title winning captain of arsenal is currently coaching at man city and will be managing them in the next couple of seasons.

You obviously didn't read my post carefully. For instance, I said those 2 kids (McNair and Blackett) were the ones who looked like lambs to the slaughter. They're obviously too inexperienced and they even looked scared for the most part of the 1st half. Every time Sanchez chased them down they panicked (even De Gea at some points). I think it's fair to say they looked very uncomfortable, don't you think?
And yet, we still couldn't profit from that. Bottled it once again.

I'll say it again: this is the worst, most unbalanced, United team there has been in maybe 20 years. A great attacking lineup (Rooney, RvP, Falcão, Di Maria), but what else? A good keeper, that's all.

When I say Arsenal are better as a unit, I'm considering our midfield and even our disfigured defense. A much more balanced team in all areas. We both suffer from injuries in defense. We were missing Koscielny (a top top defender for us) and Debuchy. You were missing Evans and Rafael (not great defenders by any means) and who else? Blind, I don't even think of him as a defender, more like a Van Gaal invention, one he got away with at the World Cup, but I'm not so sure now for the long run.

I personally think the 'worst Premiership champions' thing is rubbish, but now things are bad for United indeed. Just consider for a moment that, maybe, you're deluded, still thinking you're a force like in the Ferguson days. The truth is that things just aren't the same without Siralix. He was the man who could get average players performing above their level. The Smallings and Evans aren't gonna deliver like they did under Fergie, you can rest assured.

As for me, I'm not fooling myself. I'm pointing out the shortcomings under Wenger, exactly the same you mention. I think we can agree on those, I just don't know why you suggest I'm deluded here :LOL:
It's not a case of lowering our expectations either. It's not unreasonable to expect something better from Arsenal, considering the group of players we have and considering how the burden of stadium debt is off our shoulders and now we have improved contracts and will be spending considerably more than in the past 9 years.

So from now on things should be on the up for Arsenal, that's why everybody gets angry at the team not being able to beat what we perceive to be a feeble United side, a great team just 2-3 years ago, but now a complete mess.
I'm not taking credit away from you, this isn't anything personal against you guys - I'm just saying you went one-nil up without a shot on target and Arsenal's performance was abject.
This ain't no media conspiracy. You have a long way to go before you can expect anything close to the brilliance of the Fergie days. In my mind, we got beaten by the team that gets battered by Leicester 5-3 at home.

I'm beginning to see Jonney's point concerning Wenger and this from somebdy who considers Wenger the most influential manager ever in England (i haven't forgotten the other one ...SAF).

You just feel they keep this bloke out for one main reason. They despise Chelsea/ManCity model to success (Sugar Daddy). This bloke is richer then Roman and can`t get a seat on the board or hear any decisions.
Arsenal`s failing .... sticking to this high moral 'We are better than you for this reason'.

Wenger says you need solidarity but this bloke has 0VER 30% shares and can`t get a word in behind close doors. The media is his only outlet.

I've seen lots of people who are against Usmanov, but I think the Arsenal board needs his voice to challenge what's been happening. We've been stale for many years now. Furthermore, the guy owns 30% of the shares. It is unbelievable that he gets denied a seat on the board.

We know he has David Dean working with him and Dean's exit was acrimonious to say the least.

I don't know who to believe in anymore. I was ok with Kroenke acquiring majority and keeping things like they were, but this isn't taking us anywhere. I get the impression that Kroenke isn't too bothered with football results and silverware, as long as this is a profitable business to him and fans keep filling up the stadium. I think he would only react if we miss out on CL qualification, which would sting his pocket.

With Usmanov/Dean on the board it would be better for us. Those guys want more immediate success. Dean didn't want Arsenal to build the Emirates in the first place, but become tenants at Wembley instead to be able to invest in the squad. In hindsight, that would've been a terrible decision (our investments would've been peanuts compared to Abramovich and Mansour anyway and we would've ended up without the new stadium).

But now we've got the stadium and improved contracts, we have to be on our way up instead of stalling like we do now.

I don't think Usmanov's and Dean's way is the right way to go, neither I think Usmanov will throw his own money at Arsenal like the sugar daddies did. But we need those dissonant voices in the board. We need to stir things up a little, because we have directors who are getting lenient with mediocrity.

At the spotlight of our display of mediocrity is Arsene Wenger unfortunately. He's been given more money and time, yet he looks like he truly lost the plot.

he made a stupid decision not to strengthen the defensive backup (after getting rid of defenders) it was stupid and is the main reason we are in the shit at the moment. It is a big hing and unforgivable to make us so vuilnerable, but it was a mistake.

For me we have had half a defence and 1/3rd of our forward line fit for most of the season. That would effect any team, but seems to go unnoticed.

Our first eleven team is really good in my opinion and our first choice back 4 is great.

He has brought in a great core of young british players to take Arsenal forward.

He has invested in two great players recently in Alexis and Ozil.

Some people think Alexis just fell from the sky and started to play well and is saving us at the moment, you do know Wenger bought him?

But yes Wenger has lost the plot, lets fucking sack him! :ROLL:

Arsenal supporters really get my goat....nearly as bad as Liverpool supporters ;))
 
Lost the plot is playing players out of position over and over again. You don't lose stones by weighing yourself over n over again, weigh loss don't work that way. In English ' change comes when you change habit to get a result. He seems to expect change w/o changing habit.

Think Monreal is not a 1st choice fullback , but he's a 1st choice CB! Guess what , he'll be starting that role tomorrow night. If , we made a mistake and the result is damaging we have to deal with the consequences of that result(mistake).WHU has our 2nd choice RB ! We brought in a kid to learn n challenge not to be the only option.

@rent I use Cosby not for his actions, but the way he was admire for so long as Wenger is and now it's becoming clear he's human after all. We can dismiss him (Cosby)just like Wenger should be challenge n question. I was over the top comparing lol take it with a pinch of salt :)

Last season, you did reasonably well, but failed miserably against big clubs...

FA Cup vs Hull City and we edged it ! you are right we got batter by the top 5 clubs. Old dogs can`t learn new tricks.. same ole Arsenal.

Well chambers is essentially a right back not left back, Monreal is a left back and Gibbs plays there. So he is going for more experience in the centre and chambers in his right back role that he played in with southampton.

i and many others would like to see chambers in the middle and. Bellerin on the right but I understamd completely why he doesnt do it because of the inexperience, but he has to try it out at least for a couple of games.

But essentially he is only playing monreal out of position.
 
If only our problems were just down to our defensive numbers not being addressed in the transfer window...

Wenger's barmy decisions in the transfer window is just the tip of the iceberg. Wenger lost the plot whether you like it or not. He keeps repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results, and I'm talking exclusively about tactics and in-game situations here.

United had a much more makeshift defense than we did and they beat us with, like, one shot on target?
And we had what, 29 shots at United's goal? That's incompetence, plain and simple.
Even when we were 0-2 down our plan was to tippy-tappy our way to United's penalty area. It is too predictable and our passing game isn't so slick anymore.

The other major problem is Wenger's lack of a grip on his team's stance during a match. We've seen how kamikaze we attacked Swansea when we were actually 1-0 up (someone posted a picture earlier here). We did the same against United trailing 0-1 with still half an hour of football left.

After the match, Wenger actually complained about the "All out attack" approach players took so early in the match. For a minute there, a casual observer wouldn't think he is the manager of this club. FFS, if he isn't going to shout orders from the touchline, who else will?

In the end, this is down to that "express yourselves" approach that Wenger uses with his teams. As a result, we have our players launching to attack like a pack of 10 year olds. And observing that and doing nothing is losing the plot IMO.
The organisation of our team suffers and with Wenger, an attacking manager, our defense suffers. That whole thing about our defense having good individuals but not being able to defend as a team? That's part of that. I'd risk saying no other Premiership team attacks so wrecklessly as us. And other managers know. Many of them have Wenger's number figured for ages now.
That's why the best tacticians out there do what they do to Wenger. That's also in part why Mourinho never lost to Wenger.

It's fair to say Wenger is more of a motivator type of manager. I think the days are over for that kind of manager. I'm afraid he is outdated, obsolete and we will only see progress with a more tactically capable manager.

When you throw away a 3-0 lead to Anderlecht at home and then throw a horror show display against Swansea and United, that's a sign that things are very wrong.

And Bobby, before you suggest my views are shared only by a few Arsenal supporters, check out how the map for ticket sales at the Emirates looked like just yesterday for the Dortmund match:

Obviously the all out attack etc is shit and he needs to sort it out, but I don't think he has lost the plot as I explained, no point me going over it all again.

I will argue that we have had half our full starting eleven out for most of the season Koscielny, Debuchy, Ozil, Giroud, Walcott. most teams would feel the effect of that, I think when we have these players back we will perform much better.

But that is just me.

I really don't think his time is up and that is my opinion :DD

You can say he has lost the plot but I think it is a huge exageration end of story.

You're right, I guess you didn't. But once you did say that the Emirates stadium tickets were selling nicely and that the stadium was still getting sold out frequently, etc.
That was just my way of showing how things are changing, fans are getting more disgruntled.

There are other subjects influencing that, of course it's just not the bad results, what with ticket sales increasing every year and Kroenke taking £3m from the club is rubbing salt to the wound.

Anyway, today we got the points we needed. Not for the competition, because the damage had been done when we threw away that 3-0 lead against Anderlecht and now we are 90% certain to finish 2nd anyway.
It was just good to put and end to this disgraceful run. But we were not that convincing. Our 3rd keeper Martinez had to make 2 brilliant saves, so it wasn't easy as the score suggests.

We have to applaud Sanchez once more, what a brilliant and hard working player.
That goal he scored is something I've been missing in Arsenal: a long range effort. Alexis is the only one in the squad (apart from Cazorla maybe) who's never afraid to have a go from there. We need more of that from our best finishers.

What was the official attendence last night? i saw on one site 59,902 and our stadium seats just over 60k? If its true, its the weakest demonstration against what is happening at Arsenal.

I like to look at it that we qualified for the next round of the Champs league with a game to spare.

And the whole 'our keeper had to make two saves' thing is crazy, there are not many games when a teams keeper doesn't have to make a couple of saves a match for his team, but now you expect our team to not have any shots on target against them in every match? i think your expectations are too high..

I'm going to applaud Wenger for bringing Sanchez to Arsenal this season, what a signing he made :))
 
I just think you should enjoy your team when you can, if I think it was all bad I would say so, but I see alot of positives and not only the negatives.

I am not depressed because we won last night and thinking we might get beaten at the weekend, its stupid imo.

Why support a team if you are going to be downbeat and miserable all of the time?

Anyway you all continue to piss and moan and I will will think of myself as fortunate that I support a team like Arsenal and the privileges that brings supporting them :))

I said Martinez made 2 brilliant saves - and here I wanted to make clear they weren't not just any save. As in, the game could've ended 2-2 kind of saves.

And there was another "WTF" moment when we were already leading 1-0 and had a corner for us and after Dortmund's defense cleared it we were up against a 3-against-2 counter. I can't get my head around how Wenger allows this to happen? I can't stress enough how amateurish this looks.

In the words of Winston Wolfe from Pulp Fiction, "let's not suck each other's cocks just yet". A win is a win and we should take it as a mood lifting thing in this little crisis we got. But in the end of the day, it was an uninterested Dortmund side who qualified with 2 games to spare.

We all know you're an optimistic fella, so it's no surprise that you have the "glass half full" perception out of this. But truth be told, in a group that also features Anderlecht and Galatasaray, with all due respect to them, Arsenal should be qualifying. It's par for the course.
But here's the catch: by qualifying 2nd in the group for the umpteenth time we're set to face the likes of Bayern or Real in the last 16. I'm getting tired of this script.

As for the stadium seats, I remember vividly that Champions League tickets sold much faster than that. And then again, there's the question of who filled up the remaining seats. Were them season ticket holders or casual fans who fancied a Champions League night? It's a moot point anyway, but there's no denying there is growing discontent among gunners.

I'm saying all this because I lost faith in Wenger. I can't see any evidence that he's been learning from previous mistakes and this is utterly frustrating.

The signing of Alexis has been the best thing for us, but unfortunately I'm letting the half-arsed performances of late get in the way of the enjoyment that is watching him play for us.
 
I hope lessons were learn from the past matches and last night was a turn around on focusing more on defense as a whole(we were brilliant covering the backline). This attack-attack does more harm then favours. I still think the candles need replacing *Wenger.

Im not pretending we are playing amazing or Wenger is doing great at the moment, but I have it in context.

Showing me pictures of the seating plan is sensationlist bullshit imo when we pretty much filled the stadium in the end. Did you take that screen shot? What date was it taken?

The fact you just expect us to qaulify for the champs league and from the groups every year is also part of the problem, ask Spurs, liverpool, Man United, Man City etc how easy it is to qaulify for the champs league and get out of the groups? 15 years in a row we have qaulified from the group stages.

If we want to win the champs league what matter does it make if we meet Real madrid (or whoever) now or in the round after, we have to beat the best teams if we want to win it full stop.

We have a long way to go this season, but getting half our first team back from injury will help us alot.

I believe in our team and I still believe in Wenger and he will turn the season around.
 
Bob you just amplified Arsenal`s 'mediocrity'.What`s next Arsene to stamp knockout stage trophy. You can NOT lower the bar or draw the line to success and only compare your highlighted theory. I think looking down at others for failing w/o looking at the success of others is in-comprehensive. If, you want to feel better then ,looking what the other clubs fail is a medicine Arsene what`s us to take.

I Bebo Quintero from the Quintero Clan ...declare and decree the removal of Arsene Wenger in the summer. He could move up or out. My only 'removal' of decree or change of will determine 2nd spot or close to it by 6 points.Effective 27/11/2014

It is about expectations and not appreciating how hard it is to do what Wenger does on a consistant basis.

Of course I want us to win, but moaning about us only getting 4th and only coming second in our groups but getting out of the groups is just stupid in my opinion.

You compare it to what is around us and it doesn't matter what anybody says, getting into the champs league every season is an achievement, getting out of the group stages is a big achievement etc.

Keep belittling it and we will get a new manager and probably not be in the champs league anymore......at least you lot won't be able to moan about it anymore :ROLL:

It is healthy to want more of course, I want my team to win. But I understand why we are not winning and it is a big mixture of things.
