I'm basing this on "back in my day" in the job, but, I think that flexibility pretty much depends on who you are. You'd think Konami could get a bit of special treatment given the size of the company, but maybe not.But this is why you have Day 1 patches, right? Sure you have to submit something early, but as I understand it, it's more flexible with subsequent patches.
I could be wrong about that. But lots of games seem to install first day updates to patch over the code that's gone "gold" these days.
Perhaps a lot of it is down to the number of platforms they have released on, all at once, with a tiny team, and huge pressure (plus Covid) - and the dates they're setting are to ensure that every "day one patch" hits every platform at once.
But I thought the whole point of eFootball was having one code base that was easier to manage in that regard.
