Manage Every Moment
New additions create additional depth in matches, transfers, and training to give you more control over your team’s rise to the top.

Experience a whole new way to play out your season with the new Interactive Match Sim. Jump in and out of matches to influence the course of the action, or take charge of key moments including penalties and free kicks to change the outcome of the match. Monitor match data and make changes directly from the sim based on the match stats and your players’ performance levels and stamina.

Manage your players’ development in greater detail with a revamped growth system. Turn right backs into right wingers, defensive midfielders into centre backs, and more to fill gaps in your team, and monitor player attribute changes during training to see how your squad is progressing.

Get more insight into your squad’s performance levels with match sharpness, a new attribute that indicates how likely your players are to perform in the most crucial moments during the course of a game. Increase your players’ sharpness with a new Active Training System that gives you the ability to set up group training sessions to improve the likelihood of your strikers putting big chances away or of defenders making key tackles.

Plan your team’s training schedule with a new activity management system. Decide when to train and when to rest during the week as you balance your players’ sharpness with morale and fitness to make the difference between winning and losing.

Enhanced opposition AI sees opponents approach games with more intelligence in both defence and attack. New systems create more informed AI decision-making in marking, tackling, passing and dribbling to present you with more challenges during each match and keep your Career fresh from game to game.

FIFA 21 Career Mode enhances transfer realism by providing both human and AI-controlled teams with new ways to sign players. Make Loan to Buy offers with optional or mandatory future transfer fees to secure new talent for your team, and respond to AI manager-initiated player swap proposals as you look to master the transfer market.

Customise your Career Mode with new initial set-up options. Get a more true-to-life experience of negotiating signings on the transfer market with Authentic Transfers, or boost your team’s starting budget to help you build your squad with Financial Takeover.

Fuck did I just watch?

Also those career mode changes don't look like they contain anything of substance Enhanced opposition AI could just be code for the CPU cheating as usual after 5 games.

GAMEPLAY
FIFA 21 rewards you for your creativity and control all over the pitch
Create more scoring opportunities with all-new dynamic attacking systems in the most intelligent FIFA gameplay to date.

Explode past defenders with the new Agile Dribbling system. Faster footwork gives you more control and responsiveness in one-on-one situations, and new skill moves like the bridge dribble and ball roll fake turn provide you with the means to explode past defenders.

New Positioning Personality raises the importance of positional awareness. World-class forwards will hold their runs to stay level with the last defender to stay onside, playmakers will hunt for space to operate between the lines, while the best defenders will close down passing lanes more effectively to make it harder for the opposition to create opportunities.

Creative Runs give you new options for influencing your team’s movement off the ball, revolutionising attacking build-up play in FIFA 21 and providing you with more ways to break down the defence.

In FIFA 21, key footballing moments including goalmouth scrambles, battles for possession in the midfield, and attacking duels will resolve more naturally than ever before, resulting in smoother encounters between players as they strive to reach the ball.

Informed by feedback from the community, revisions to the fundamentals of football in FIFA raise the game throughout the pitch, with manual headers, more balanced blocking, more intelligent passing, and increased responsiveness giving you more control on and off the ball.

Replicating the play style of the best FIFA players in the world, the Competitor Mode setting gives your opposition a better grasp of skill moves, dribbling types, and tactics to give you a more challenging and rewarding opponent to match up with on Legendary and Ultimate difficulty.

So a game that is overly balanced in favour of attacking has made all it's gameplay improvements to make attacking easier.

One mention of defending in there. Even the bit about positioning is for attacking. Close down passing lanes equals centre backs leaving the defensive line to go shadow hunting.

At this point I really have given up.

so they add back an old feature and call it new
typical

I don't believe any of the s**t that EA posts these days.
They will change the game hugely and make mass improvements, then the BETA will be released and then the FUT and YouTubers will say the game is broke and needs to be a button mashing fest.
Then the full game will come round and it will be FIFA 20 with a faster speed and a new array of skill moves.

Any career mode changes they make to the game will be buggy and require a lot of tweaking, which EA won't do, as Career Mode doesn't pay the bills.

That one of the key features of Career Mode, is literally the option to not play the game (i.e. the match sim), really worries me. Like, a lot.

Some of it I'm struggling to even understand. Does the "smoother encounters" bit mean that physical battles are more natural? Or does it mean that Mbappe asks you out for coffee at half time?

:LMAO: :P

Some of that stuff sounds interesting tho. Like the positioning personality stuff for example.

Then it's probably all gonna be messed up by fut junkies but it's the default position of EA, would be useless to comment any of it with this in mind..

"Informed by feedback from the community, revisions to the fundamentals of football in FIFA"

Feedback from what community would be my first question.

My second would be what were the pre existing fundamentals cause they seemed almost non existent. It's a fundamental of football that scoring is rare and it's harder to attack than defend. If the little they had in there have been removed I can't imagine what's left or what has replaced it.

Some words had a nice ring to them. But too many buzzwords / per second. No point thinking much about it before playing the demo. Even 1v1 battles sounded nice on paper until you played the game and realized what it really meant for the other 20 AI controlled players, lol.

If gameplay is the same across current-gen and next-gen, I don't think it'll be for me.

In 2020 is trend to release a gameplay trailer without gameplay, just PR nonsense. Its looks FIFA 21 Season Update for 60 $. Next-gen and current-gen looks identical .

I don't think this one was Next Gen. As back in 2013 the Next Gen Trailer will be out about October I think.. But the only differences between Current and Next Gen Gameplay-wise will be some minor physic improvements and graphical stuff like ray tracing etc i think

Well, I imagine someone at EA is very proud of their faux-skater-grunge 1980's trailer which from a visual design point of view was barely coherent, never mind comprehensible.

What utter trash. Half a second of gameplay footage with a full reveal in august. So a third reveal before a hint of actual gameplay.

Sorry to be negative but triple A gaming companies are increasingly tiresome. The sheer level of shithousery on display as they all cover up the fact they have virtually no new ideas, or the talent or willingness to make use of whatever power these consoles have (this gen or next) to create genuinely deep and interesting 'gameplay' is astonishing.

Pes and fifa never show off any gameplay each year because they have nothing to show. It's just such minor progress each year. If either company invests in a new engine, we'll see gameplay in April/May because they'll be desperate to show us something that actually takes the genre forward. Until then, we get free kicks viewed via sprinkler-eye cam.

But let's not feel too sorry for ourselves. Have you seen the new Halo trailer? Good god. It looks like the game I played back on the xbox in 2005. But then you skim the comments on YouTube, just out of curiosity, and it's a cesspit of childish insults and mindless defensiveness, as if the developers give a shit about that one person sticking up for them.

These are the people games are made for nowadays. The whole industry has been hijacked by the worst kind of customer imaginable with gaming becoming a safe haven for the degenerate mob. When did this happen? I have no real idea but online gaming and Call of Duty might be a good place to start...

Yeah although we knew this was coming. Last years Volta themed trailers were an indication their marketing to youths more aggressive than ever. Mainstream Triple A gaming is a lot like the music industry these days. Less about the substance more about the flair. It's pure marketing nowadays and it doesn't matter what the quality of the product is as long as people are physiologically convinced to buy it. Because young people want to stay ahead of the trends, Fear of missing out is a large driving factor in the marketing and branding of products.

To be fair, With the so called very little to work with, PES 2021 actually had a more productive trailer.

This abandonment of substance is the most disappointing. It sort of goes hand in hand with the ps5 and xbox x reveals. These consoles were being talked about a huge leap forwards (even accounting for marketing hype) and then you see the games and they look so...empty. some.look.flashier, some ray tracing whatever but nothing new in gameplay.

Remember at the beginning of ps3 and ps4 cycles, there were these trailers for groundbreaking games with gameplay that looked genuinely different? I cant even remember what they were called.because they never came out!

Instead, whether its fifa or any other game, we're just playing the same games we were on ps3 with better lighting...

I mean, the game is released in October, there's no point in showing everything already 2.5 months before the release.

Bring on tomorrow's trailer. Which will doubtless be more close-ups of sweaty foreheads and fans outside the stadium.

We weren't even that lucky.

Anyway, the teaser was a bit shit. The same awful lighting. No surprise there. The only thing I enjoyed about the trailer was Cantona! I wish they would have shown the next-gen version, but it doesn't surprise me that they're holding back. I did enjoy the PS4 version of FIFA 14 quite a bit when it released. It had some nice bells and whistles compared to its last-gen predecessor and I felt like it played better. Who knows.

As per usual, what EA claims or showcases now has little barring on the retail product. The FUT zealots and "influencers" will kick and scream if there's any hint of simulation afoot, then they'll proceed to complain that the game is garbage for the next year even though they're the ones advocating for changes that negatively impact the gameplay! It happens every year without fail. I saw a video of someone showcasing FIFA 17 mods and they were lamenting the fact that EA had opted to take the simulation route for FIFA 20. My feeble mind can't begin to comprehend. The player base is its own worst enemy.

I've seen a lot of people excited for sim features that were in the game eons ago. I mean, I'd rather have it than not, but I'm curious as to how many people sim their matches as a primary means of playing Career Mode? I'll sim some Mickey Mouse cup matches or the rest of the season if I've secured the title, Champions League, promotion, etc. Beyond that, I'm not chomping at the bit to go in and sim the majority of my schedule. I'll play FM if I wanted that.

They finally reintroduced loan to buy offers. That's something? It's about time managers started bringing up player swaps which, despite being very rare in real life, would be a welcome change. There's a few additions that sound promising, but nothing groundbreaking. At the end of day, it doesn't much matter to me because I buy FIFA and PES (the latter at a discount) every single year. Well, maybe not the Season Update...

I mean, the game is released in October, there's no point in showing everything already 2.5 months before the release.

I'm not suggesting they show everything, not at all.

I'm suggesting they wont show anything meaningful ie gameplay cam, because there is so little to show that is actually new.
