He's not a spectacular choice no, neither is he awful though. he's competent and has shown consistency. We have a solid squad so he's taking over a young team full of winners.

Its Europe where he's a complete novice so we'll see how he does.
 
Well I for one am excited about us getting another manager, and glad that its happening now instead of us having to switch due to The Imperial Lord Fergs poor health mid season, or something of that nature.

Of course the ABU brigade think that's it for us now, and some United supporters, especially the younger ones who have never seen another manager in the dugout, are nervous, but the club couldn't be in a better position than when SAF took over so its up to the club now.....
 
When it 'dropped' last night I couldn't believe it, seems surreal this morning.

More or less my whole United supporting life has been while Fergie was in charge. Strange days. His like will never come again.

Just hope that the players knew already. Might explain why they were so damn determined this season. Also explains why Fergie was absolutely destroyed at Cakir's decision in the CL. He must have known it was his last chance.

I'm on the fence with Moyes. I'm curious to see what he would do with a better squad - as he does occasionally have Everton playing some absolutely top drawer stuff. He can clearly motivate players too. But, not sure about his ability at the very top level. It's chicken and egg though - we'll never know unless he gets the chance at a top club.

Will be interesting to see the ABU reaction to all this. Wonder if some of the 'hatred' will leave with Fergie going. Other than Rooney, we don't even have that many divisive characters in the team. Hard to get all that annoyed about Valencia or Carrick.
 
I've never known anyone other than SAF as our manager so I've really no idea how to deal with this. The United I've loved since I knew what football was isn't going to be the same again. It's surreal.

The man is god. I'm not religious but I'm willing to worship him. For all the memories and amazing times he's given me and the rest of us I can only say thank you.

I really, really don't want Moyes though. Awful football, awful tactics, submissive against big teams, no European experience, no name caché to draw in decent signings and all this bollocks about working on a shoestring doesn't factor in that he's spent big on strikers when he's needed to and every single one of them has been a fucking failure.

The only real tie to someone like Sir Alex or Sir Matt is the fact he's Scottish and capable of being angry at his players. That's it. Shite.

Rooney's gone too. No way he's gonna stay around under Moyes given their past history.

Will rooney leave now, didnt moyes and he fall out? I really thought united would go all out for klopp, when we were sitting here last few weeks warching the champions league my man utd supporting best mate said the dortmund team were exciting like the old man utd teams of the late 90s early 00s. The league wint be the same now as winding up him over fergie was one of my favourite pastimes( and him destroying me every week with "liverpool will win the championship.... When they get relegated") i rang him earlier and even he's abit worried with Moyes

You'll get over it dude, the club couldn't be in a better situation, compared to SAF taking over, the infrastructure, stadium, training, we're always gonna be up there fighting for trophies, other clubs have handled similar transitional periods and remained relevant, shit, look at chelsea, they change mangers nearly every season and win trophies.

An important factor for me is he isn't going anywhere, and isn't gonna let them pick someone who cant do the job,

I feel your maybe harsh on Moyes, SAF wasn't known for a particular style of football with previous clubs, he was known for his approach to running a football club and winning mentality, what Moyes has done with everton is pretty impressive, I was there for the 4-4 that finished our Title hopes last season, everton didn't cave in that day and played good football, only one example but if the club choose him, I'm all for it.
 
Rooney and Moyes had a public 'making up' in 2010. Not too worried about that.

Wonder if Fergie leaving is why Rooney has looked like a sad child the last few matches.

The importance of Giggs, Vidic and Ferdinand cannot be understated now. Will need the continuity of the sheer will that Ferguson beat into those players.

think he took it further by reshaping the club, the whole ethos of the club has been reborn in a generation...

I certainly hope so.

Just reading some of these numbers - it's insane. United have won more trophies than any other English team. Fergie has won 62% of them.

Fergie is tied for 3rd with Arsenal football club for most top division wins.

When Fergie took over United were 19th in the league.

It's all crazy.
 
The sad fact is Vanizzle we've been downgraded (which was obviously going to happen whenever he left) at a time where competition from City and Chelsea has never been stronger.

We've lost probably some appeal when it comes to luring talent (The Ronaldo story would be dead now) and so on. Next year is going to be tough, along with the fact this is all new to Moyes too.

What are realistic expectations for next season? Challenge? Top 4?
 
Ferguson the greatest manager of all time, well hats off to him. At times I did'nt like him being a Liverpool fan, but hats off to the great man.

It will be interesting to see who they appoint next. I'd be surprised to see Moyes come, he has won nothing yet. Mourinho does not fit, he's too self-obsessed about his record than the club he's working at.
Jurgen Klopp has no British experience.

I dont see how we've been downgraded, or if that's something you can even qualify.
 
In the stock prospectus there's a line that's something like:

Whoever the next manager of Manchester United is, he will not have the history of success that the current manager has.

In the risks. Class.
 
What an insane day for United fans everywhere. Its good to see that despite the superficial hatred from opposing teams fans for the man, they also recognize how great and unique of a coach he was. I'm still not truly buyingg the Moyes stories just yet, but I do think we can expect Giggs to be an assistant soon.
 
All I hope is that United fans act with some dignity whoever is appointed. If it's Moyes, we need to get behind him and support him through what will be an insanely steep learning curve.
 
this summer the football world will see many transfers not just players but also managers i think...it will be a big mix..

if moyes takes over, Martinez is n. 1 to take over Everton, or Coyle..

here is another question. if united fell into the dark ages of say arsenal/liverpool by winning nothing for 5+ years how would lots of you feel about this?

Not a question directly to you Vanizz as you have experienced both good and bad times at united but i think many others only experienced the good times
 
I think that some United fans need to go through that period - myself included. I'm a big follower of sports in general, and all of my teams have had terrible periods except for United. It makes the winning that much sweeter - we definitely take Fergie for granted.
