Manchester United Thread

That kid is all you're getting! (I hope) :P

Is Nani in the last year of his contract or something?

Haha, yeah - where will the excuses come from next year if we beat you ;)

Yes, Nani will enter into his last year this season. Part of the reason.

He apparently wants parity with Ashley Young - which I consider totally fair - just bring em both down to 70k :)

I still hate Young. That's all.

I can't hate him. He's still better than Park - and that's the role he is overpaid to do. He's a 3rd or 4th choice winger, and does that better than any other 3rd or 4th choice winger in the league.

What is shocking is that he basically played 38 games a season til he joined us, and now can't stay fit for more than a third of a season. What do we do in training?*

*I have a suspicion now that Scholes is gone we might see a reduction in training related injuries

The only thing shocking is how Villa turn out these average players and manage to sell them on for £15m+. They must laugh to the bank each time one of the Manchester clubs comes knocking..

I think Newcastle rejecting Liverpool`s 1st £30m approach, only to accept their 2nd £35m is rich-er .

Not really. While not being as technically gifted as Young, Park shone in the big games whereas Young is a little pussy in comparison.

You'll never see Young cause an excellent Milan side the sort of problems Park did in 2005, for example.

Sorry, meant the park of 2009 on. The one who no longer had three-lungs, and so was just a technically poor, balanced-challenged slow 'winger'.

He did a great job on Pirlo, I know, and was useful in big games. But by the end of his time with us, he was a libaility. We had a 50% higher chance of dropping points in matches he played in his last season.

If you want more proof, he could barely hold down a role at QPR.

So is Ronaldo going back to united or not. Tired of the spec and rumours

He's not going back. Ronaldo and Jorge Mendes are just playing with uncle Floren to rise his offer (specially in what concerns to image rights, you probably don't know but Real Madrid contracts always include a 50-50 share of every player image rights).

Agree with this, there's too much speculation for there not to be something going on, but in reality we're probably just being used to get him this better contract. That's just how football is these days.

Agreed, but it can't hurt to dream ;)
From what I can gather Ronaldo wants £300,000 a week (after tax) and all his image rights. Probably something to do with the fact that's what Eto'o and (I believe) Yaya Toure are earning at their clubs and we all know Cristiano is a lot better than both of them.

I'm not so sure that Ronaldo is a better player than Eto'o.
Look at Eto'o's record in big matches and that of CR7.
Ronaldo is more talented without a doubt, but i still think that he is not a big match player.

Best example is the first CL final between Man Utd and Barcelona. At the beginning of that match United were the better team but Ronaldo ket on shooting from the most ridiculous distance...in all his brilliance he was pretty ineffective. First time Eto'o had something remotely a chance, he scored...
But that is only my opinion...

PS: no need to sent hate PM's because of this (this not to United fans, you know who you are).

Fair point, Eto'o at Barca was something special. However he 'nerfed' his own career by moving to Anzhi imo, his failure to play at the highest level throughout his career puts him down as a 'has been' in a sense because he's very much out of competition with the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra and RvP (among others) if he had stayed with Barca or Inter Milan, I reckon he could have been a serious contender for WPOTY.

Ronaldo has been the stand out star of both Manchester United and Real Madrid and consistently competes for the honor of WPOTY, its just a shame his only real chance of winning it these days is if Messi gets jailed ;)

I hate this 'urban legend'. Yes, Ronaldo was poor in the first CL final. The Messi v. Ronaldo final. We all know this.

Aside from that he's scored in all other finals he's ever played in, has more goals in Classicos since he joined Real than Messi and has been the highest or near the highest scorers in the CL every season.

That one game is the exception rather than the rule.

Worse than Eto'o? He's scored literally 1 in 1 for 200 games for Real Madrid. Not sure what else is expected of him.

Yaya certainly isn't on 300k after tax.

Rooney is on more than any City player and even he isn't on that

Damn it ! TSO ! I love seeing the Dreamers dream. You just killed their happy clown. Its ok they`re many who believe his return is on the rise.

I posted this a couple days ago, but it will not happen. Don't waste your time.

Might get Strootman - who I actually think is okay from the 3 matches I've seen recently (all Holland) - and at a big stretch maybe Thiago, but I think he'll stay at Barca.

I expect at least 1 more 'random signing' like that full back.

You have probably never played this game at a high level. Speaking from experience I can tell you that EVERY game is a big game, sans friendlies of course. If you're smart then you know what I'm talking about. Doesn't matter if you play in the premier leagues, division 1 or 2.

The last few years Ronaldo has rectified the big game thing.

Look at his recent record in Clasicos for example.

Eto'o was a big game player his entire career mind.

Gonna miss that smirk on SAF's face when you know a journalist is asking something potentially controversial and you just see the man reacting like "ahahaha, yeah..I ain't telling you shit. Nice try though.":PIRATE:

I know it seems the United PR machine is doing a masterful job controlling any real information on possible transfers from coming out, but it sure would be nice to get a bit more solid evidence soon rather than relying on player twitter accounts and shady newspapers.

If SAF would still be coach I would actually believe that we would perhaps only buy one player and just continue with the rest of the "old guard" and perhaps start getting some of the youngsters more first team action. However, I'd like to think Moyes is thinking a bit more aggressively about this. Having said that. I hope we'll get at least Fabregas or Thiago. The era of relying on Scholesy in midfield has been over for quite a while now.

So we are set to rival Chelsea for the signing of van Ginkel for £15m, we can't doubt that he's a talented kid but I'm definitely sceptical as to if he's worth so much at this point in time. Then again, we payed as much for Zaha so we will see.

Imo, we would still benefit more from selling Rooney and buying ourselves a competitive Midfield and defence.

And obviously we will take one more child for the collection.

Yup, we're apparently using a whole new 'type' of pitch which will be better in winter than this year. Some small mix of synthetic grass apparently. Who knows.

Sounds from Spain are that Thiago will indeed be leaving Barca. I posted a few days ago that it just makes too much sense for us to sign him. We'd offer him the chance to start every week in a big club, he'd offer us a cracking young player in a position we desperately need.

Therefore I now expect City, Monaco or Chelsea to offer double what we do, and scupper the signing.

Also expect movement on Strootman soon. Given the comments from his agent, I actually don't think we've made a firm offer yet.

Just kind of hope things are ticking over in the background. I know Moyes is on holiday, but with Gill and SAF in charge there was always confidence that they were sorting stuff out. I don't know with this new regime. Time will tell.

Good to see the pitch being replaced after all those years of getting by. The new one is supposed to be from the same company that provided the pitch at the Emirates.

W regards to Thiago; I am on the verge of just not reading any transfer rumors anymore. The bookies, agents, tabloid journalists and other scum are laughing themselves to the bank with the constant stream of all this hearsay information.
