And to see Fletch, Kagawa, Januzaj all link up so good together is really heart-warming in these tough times.

It's best debut for a young guy I have seen in very long time in EPL , since Rooney In everton i believe , he's doing really really good and it's far better than players like sterling or Walcott at his early days(even now) and many others , he's best younger players in EPL so far ;)

And of course he's not Belgium , Gerd already know that :LOL:

And it frankly doesn't matter to me which nationality he has. He is avery promosing player. I know that for almost 4 years now.

You said 'Messi was sometimes the best player at that age.' My point is Januzaj is not surrounded by good enough players . He is the best dribbler n moving forward atm for mutd. I bet the pressure to dive might be part of that, the responsibility is too much...I believe better player improve other players.

I wont fall for the comparison w/ Sterling ,Theo or whoever stands out for a few weeks during their age. Sterling was very good at the start last season. Injuries can derail anyone`s progress at a young age especially when heavily depended on.

atm a weaker Mutd only helps ManCity to the title imo :COAT: no gloating here m8!

Were United not champions some months ago?

Sterling was benched since start of this season, only few months ago everyone expected him to move on loan.. he is currently one of the best players in LFC squad.

Mutd are still champions.My point which for the life of me don`t get why its so hard to comprehend is Mutd always had strong players... The Nanis,Andersons,Welbecks were supposedly were the next breed. Januzaj might be the answer and that`s my point again.
 
My 2c on signings:
If we want to be a global footballing powerhouse, we need to act like one. It's a nasty business, filled with nasty characters generally manipulating very poorly educated boys in one of the most lucrative careers in the world. United have been fortunate in that they had a generation of players that were both a bit blue-collar, hard working types but also phenomenal talents that were willing to play for the shirt. I'm not convinced we can expect that anymore. It'd be nice, but I think it's a fantasy.

Look at City at the moment. I'm not exaggerating when I say their home form is simply the most dominant, exciting, attacking football I've ever witnessed in England. But not a single one of those players ever thought they'd play a single moment for Manchester City when they were growing up. There are no youth players there, no sense of history or 'playing for the sky blue shirt'. It's simple - City have spent and they now have far and away the best set of players in the league. It's as distasteful as a gold-plated Ferrari and probably appeals to the same clientele, but that is the market in which we now operate.

There are countless examples throughout history of once dominant companies desperately clinging to their old business models, while the world moves on without them. That's where we are today. We can either use our enormous revenues to play at the true top table of global football, or we can join the also-rans. Who do we want our peers to be? If it's Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, Milan and so forth then so be it. But if we honestly believe we're in the same category as Real, Barcelona and Bayern then we need to start acting like it, because it's very easy to get left behind pining for the good years.

So I say suck it up. Pay the scum agents their fees. Piss on their cash if it makes you feel better, they'll take it any way they can. Because we desperately need some marquee signings, as much for our reputation as anything else.

My 2c on Chelsea: We're f*cked, hope it's not too embarrassing. Remember when we played Arsenal a couple years ago and all their best players were injured? 8-2? That kind of f*cked. Wish we could pull a Chelsea and just cancel the match til our players are healthy again.

This is a 'club' that took "Football Club" off their badge not far off 2 decades ago. I don't know which is more cringe-worthy, the self pity or the self delusion! :SHOCK:

Actually, it's precisely like that.

Why has United been able to dominate the premier league? Because we had smarter execs running the club, had a better manager and had more fans filling a bigger stadium. We invested in expanding that stadium, and even though we're sh*t at the moment we bring in twice as many home fans to a mid-week carling cup match as most teams bring on their marquee Sunday fixtures. We've produced more youth players currently playing in the prem than anyone else, we've traveled the world doing marketing tours and begging for fans. We've developed and had to sell the best player in the world.

Those are the reasons why we should be able to afford nice things. A combination of timing, luck and excellent management for 3 decades - as well as the best consistent work ethic of any club in the country. You think it's easy for one club to be in the top 3 for 25 years? Look around, no one else is doing it.

So yes, we're the mom and pop store that kicked some serious ass during the economic boom, and we should be reaping the rewards of that now.

While we watch City and Chelsea literally lose more money than we've lost in 25 years each season, and get criticized by the media for not competing with them.

As I've said before, you're either a bit of a wind-up-merchant (and that's fine, the internet is absolute full of them) or you didn't really live through City's history. Because anyone that had wouldn't react this way. Most of my friends are older City fans because of the Goat, and not a one is as pompous, pretentious and immature as you about their recent success.

No, you're just your typical corporation that uses the power of law (in this case, football's governing bodies) to destroy competition.

The fact it takes clubs so much money to get over such hurdles is a good indication of how successful these lobbying efforts have been.



As for your edit, you live in Bermuda and only started watching Utd in the 90's. I live in Manchester and have had a season ticket at City since before I can remember (mid to late 80's), so forgive me for not taking these kinds of (non)arguments from you seriously. Call me a WUM if it means keeping to your delusions, I don't care.
 
Luiz is such a prick. That's one player I'd love to punch in the face.

Arsenal or City for PL winners please. We re all over these guys but ironically miss the firepower in the front. Watching City destroy Chelsea will be beautiful.

Our 'luck' with decisions this year has now reached the stage where I think subconsciously refs are loving 'making up' for their perceived preference towards us in the past.

That Vidic foul a red card? Then not one for Rafael which was 10x worse but at that stage he's too chicken to do anything about it.

We weren't terrible today aside from two incredibly stupid individual mistake at the back.

Chelsea are very average imo. Can't believe we let in 3 against that 'attack'. Might as well have put them in ourselves. But that's the way things are going for us at the minute.

Also, has there ever been a more Mourinho victory? Dodgy decisions, slices of luck, cynical rolling around and no attacking intent? Wish we'd hired him ;)

(LOL at the moment the world woke up to Chelsea's 24 loanees. Takes commentary in a big game for people to learn about their 100m loan squad. Our first XI tonight was worht about that)
 
We'll be a different prospect when Rooney and RVP are back. Say what you want, but very few teams can deal with their two best players being out.

A front 4 of Nani, Janujaz, RVP and Rooney is a completely different proposition than Valencia, Young, Welbeck and Hernandez. Gulf in class between the two sets.

The rest I agree. This is a United team that has been built with the late 90's in mind. Good solid generally UK-ish players that are dependable and will do a job. That used to be enough. But with City and Chelsea in town, the game has moved on and we haven't. We'll see what happens now.

4 losses out of 5 matches in January. The biggest problem for me is defensive mistakes. I mean, the one thing I had faith in Moyes for was making a team difficult to break down. Instead we're the easiest team to play against in the league. No pressure, no shape, no solid line and individual errors abound. I'd be fine if our attack was as dull as it is if we'd at least be solid, but we're the opposite. Moyes is taking us backwards.
 
Never a red. Utd need Rooney and RVP back quickly or no CL next season. With 16 games left, 7 points is quite a lot for a team to overturn without their 2 best forwards
 
In all honesty, can anyone tell me why Mark Lawrenson is allowed to 'write' for a national newspaper?

Apparently, after going live on the air to say that RVP had handed in a transfer request in December (he hadn't) he has now written an article saying that Moyes hates Rafael and wants rid. (he doesn't)

Why is it only ex-LFC players are allowed to be football pundits, while ex-United players become professional managers?

(Gary Neville aside, and he's the best damn football pundit on television)

United's defeat was self inflicted, the ref had nothing to do with it.
It's true that this wasn't the best Chelsea, still they were by far the better team. They never needed to be good in this game...what did you expect ? A good Chelsea and a 9-0 defeat for United ?

I also find it ironic when you talk about United as underdogs. This is the biggest football club in the world. They have the financial means to buy good players, they don't...Conclusion: they don't deserve to win things.

I agree with you that the Chelsea and City model is not the preferred way to run a football team. I'm pretty sure both Chelsea and City will not be massive clubs in 2030...the day Mansour and Abramovich have had enough, they will implode...then they will become relegation battlers and in the end they will go down (look at Blackburn Rovers).

But is Manchester United under the Glazers an example ? Is this the future for football ? I don't think so.

Fans of a club like Norwich, Villa or Swansea have all the right to write posts like your post (except the part about the ref), but not the fans of Manchester United. This isn't an underdog club...

Someone here wrote that Vidic's sending off was never a red card. I stopped watching the game by that time. But my 10 year old son told me that this was one of the nastiest fouls he ever saw...he could be wrong of course...but he is unbiased.

To end on a positive note (because i'm not gloating in United defeats, i want them competing for titles, not necessary win them, but competing...): the best individual action of the game was Adnan Januzaj's nut meg pass in the first half...that was a touch of genius...what a shame that he will never play for our national team...
