The Retro-PES Corner

Thanks - I have one. :) I'll have to check here then whether to find an ISO file an make it work... I'm technically so inept that just getting an OF copied and to work on PS2 was a huge win. And I also love having the original game for the collection, of course.

Ah, excellent. It's just when you mentioned a Max Drive. FreeMCBoot should render that - and its terrible, terrible tiny disc - redundant!

Anyway, here's a clean English language ISO.

And I totally get it re a collection. I have the lot!

Oh amazing! Yes it's FreeMCBoot in fact I have; I just get confused by all these names because... technically inept.

I see there is also PES14 available. That's the one missing for me because I didn't find (yet) a reasonably priced copy. To get that from there and play is that the process of getting the ISO and put in on the FreeMCBoot and load it from there?

2014 can be downloaded here.

Physical copies are hard to come by. I paid decent money for mine and that was a good few years ago!

So, yeah, download the above, stick the ISO on a USB in the DVD folder, PS2, OPL, Bob's your mother's brother!

I'll ask here as well. Is there an option file for the PS3 version of Winning Eleven 2014 Aoki Samurai no Chousen? If yes, any chance to get it working on an emulator?

Hi. Hope y'all doing well. :))

Quick question. I never played any PES/WE releases on PS2 after 2009. Is any of the titles released between 2010-2014 worth to check it out? Thanks in advance.

Thanks! That sounds fantastic! Unfortunately I don't get it to work, but maybe just doing somewhere along a mistake?

Downloaded the file, unzipped it, created a DVD folder in my USB, put the unzipped file in there, started PS2 and OPL, but when I press for Load Games nothing happens at all. I also defragged the USB file as I read somewhere here that's a good idea too, and tried a different USB.

Anything I'm missing where I could have gone wrong or something else I need to do with the ISO? Anything in the OPL settings that need to be different?

Ooh. I'll need to check. It's been ages since I used OPL regularly! I'll try to follow the same process using the same file and see how it goes. Stand by for a reply or DM!

The strangest game I had in a long time, playing as France, dominating the game but could not score, and Serbia just needed 6 shots for 4 goals, with Nikola Zigic scoring a hattrick....
It is PES 5, 5 stars and 20 mins match length with my 2008-09 option file (https://evoweb.uk/threads/pes-5-option-file-season-2008-09-released-link-in-1st-post.104784/)

Classic PES to score a hat-trick, and only get a 6.5 rating 🤣

Does anyone have the database of the j league dlc players of we2012? , also is there any activation files found for it on ps3? (Edat files , rap file etc)

Hi, this may be a really silly question but sometimes we make silly mistakes.

Did you create the DVD folder in the PS2 folder?

If I remember you need to create a PS2 folder … maybe I am wrong …I can’t remember … I will check when I get home

I managed to get this to work last night with the DVD folder in the root folder 🫡

Yes it was enough to have the DVD folder on the USB - it worked now, thanks to @Flipper the Priest who send me his OPL settings and I had to change something there to load from USB actually. it works now! :))

Just started playing... wow, feels great!

I just tried, most propably for the first time in my life, PES 2011 and I am genuinely impressed.

I admire the "old" version of PES most. PES 3,4,5,6 and especially WE 9 LE is goat for me. I played these games all my childhood and I remember how excited I was for the release of new version every year. Then PES 2008 came, new engine and I was so so disappointed that I lost interest for PES games for nearly a decade.

So I guess I never played PES 2011. The thing I miss the most in the old PES games is 360 movement. Have WE 9 LE or PES 5 with 360 movement would be game changer.

Then I came accross some YouTube vids and heard that PES 2011 was the first 360 movement PES ever. That caught my interest and thanks to @Sany023 and his easy installers I was able to download PES 2011 with patch already pre-installed.

And it's actually quite good game! Yes, if you compare it to newer versions graphic is lacking, some key controls missing. If you compare it to the old PES the mods are missing. But the game as it is is really good. From the movement and flow of the game I feel the old PES there. You recognize player animations are very similiar to PES 6. And the speed and flow of the game is some great mix between PES 4 and PES 5.

I would encourage everybody to give it a go!

I guess you're referring to the PS2 version of PES 2011, given you mention "great mix between PES 4 and PES 5"... if so, YES - I totally agree, after having caught up now on all the PES titles post PES 6 myself, finally (thanks in large part to this forum).

PES 2011 truly stands out: it has the right pace and flow, the right directness of control, the right the dynamic of play that feels simply spot on, and you have to play proper football - this is a tactical game I feel like PES 5 is, but open enough to play spectacular attacking football, though you get punished for sprinting around the pitch like a lunatic, with the AI showing a brutal ruthlessness as well.

I'd go as far an say this is the best PES title on the PS2... if not for some flaws that derail enjoyment: most notably the random shooting. It's absolutely atrocious in this game.

It's a shame Konami didn't build on this title. Because PES 2012 plays completely different. The flow and pace are off, the ball feels like filled with led.... the whole dynamic that makes PES 2011 so exciting is gone. But the shooting is a lot better. PES 2013 feels better again, PES 2014 is decent. But PES 2011 feels the absolute pinnacle of PS 2 PES.

I speak about PC version - I am really suprised how flow the game is. I had zero expectation and I am truly possitively suprised by that game.

As far as I know no PS2 version have 360 movement and still runs in PES 6 era engine. Only PES 6 era engine game with 360 movement is PES on Wii, but it's 360 movement just for you, opponents are still in the old 16 (?) angles of play.

this is motive I chosen to have only one modern 360° engine (latest one) on PC with all old PC games and their ported gameplays with my revolutionary mods for PES2021 PC and without necessity to install old games anymore... (you can find all my "Back To The Past" gameplays for pes 2021 in my thread here...) ;)

A bold statement. They're pretty much all good in their own way on PS2 but I've never seen someone say 2011 is the best of the lot. For me it's a good game like the majority but it's not one that particularly stands out in any way in my opinion.

You can have both, Ps2 old golden engine and 360 movement.

PES 2011 on Wii features an enhanced "total control" system, introducing 360-degree passing and multi-directional dribbling for increased responsiveness.

This is not 360 movement at all. Is there any other version of PS2 PES 2011?

And with the Wii version the issue is that 360 movement is only for the player. CPU always use the old movement system.
