Manchester United Thread

The Dags might have stardom dust on his boots, but the amount of money spend on players coming 'in' and to sell them 'out' for a pence on every 10 quids . Is like having your teenager run your finances and having Dags driving players around like a clown for the world to see him .I have the opinion he did this to show SAF , you met you match! (SAF spoke like he was interested in Adams , it was throwing bones at Dags)
I bet SAF was chuckling about seeing Dags running w/ a bone .

The less spoken about Dags time at the helm the better. :)

It's refreshing to see a more diverse spread of challengers this year, regardless of United's position or performances.

There's been numerous occasions where Arsenal were top by this stage, Chelsea were involved in 1999, Newcastle and yourselves were involved in 1997.

The number of "potential Champions" is no different to many seasons in the past by this stage of the season, the only difference is, Utd aren't involved this time round.
 
Have faith. If given time, Moyes will prevail.

I honestly expected worse than this for United this season. Maybe I expected too little, and some of you expected too much but all in all the squad isn't especially strong and Moyes haven't yet big enough balls to scare mediocre players to world class performances like a certain red nosed wine quaffer did often enough.

It's been really interesting listening to a couple podcasts - one in particular that features ex-United player Gordon Hill who still has ties to the club.

The older heads are making it sound like the dressing room is completely broken, and that some senior players are basically on mutiny. It's crazy to think that Fergie was the onyl thing keeping some of them in check.

What's most interesting is that all the older guys seem keen to keep Moyes around, and that he needs to ditch almost a quarter of the current squad before we can start re-building. They almost universally blame Fergie for that too, and have an interesting theory that Ferguson selected 'bland' players towards the end of his career because he lost the nerve of challenging untamed talents like Cantona and Keane. And that's why we have no leaders anymore - he didn't buy leaders, he was the only leader.
 
Some really nice movement in that video, thought at around 1min was especially good. Had 2 players tight on him, a pass back to the defender and a little drop of the shoulder and he was clear and had played those 2 players out of the game.

Would be interesting to see a similar video of Coutinho, from that short video (as I haven't seen much of Kagawa or Utd this season) they seem pretty similar. But watching Liverpool they always seem to be looking to get the ball to him, whereas in that video Utd just passed him by most of the time.

That is obvious for a couple of years now.
Ferguson should never have come back from his first retirement (he never really did retire, but you know what i mean).

It hurts seeing this... the lad is so good on and off the ball, yet our useless players like Young/Valencia/Smalling make him look uninvolved by not passing to him.

You can also see why Rooney shouldn't play in the midfield... yes, he can deliver those Scholesy 50-yard passes, but the difference is that Scholes actually almost always knew the right moment for a long or a short pass, while Rooney gets the ball in the central area and immediately pings it towards the wingers. One of the arguments why Rooney's best position would be as a striker - it would make more sense to spread the ball wide then.

But really, it's painful to watch how we're wasting one of the world's best central attacking midfielders (if you've seen him for Dortmund, you would know that isn't an exaggeration). And I think only if RvP leaves, there's gonna be a real chance for Kagawa at United... because let's face it, Van Persie's our best striker so you can't put Rooney there and he has to play behind him - so although Kagawa is better at the CAM position, no manager would drop the biggest name/ego in the squad who just signed a new contract.

The bottom line for me is that he is exactly what we need. Young. Energetic and strong. Composed. Central midfielder. Available.

Therefore it'll never happen. Fergie and then Moyes have crushed all hopes of us ever making a midfield signing that makes perfect footballing sense again.

The only we can make this is work is let Chelsea sign him, then loan him from them. Perfect plan. The club won't even release we've signed a midfielder...

Good performance today, nice and comfortable.

I suspect we'll look clueless against Olympiacos again, Mata is becoming the glue to our attacking play.

Some really good performances from Rafael, Fellaini and Rooney today.
 
Fellaini was the old Fellaini in our midweek match against Ivory Coast (which was an excellent performance until the coach started with his 6 substitutions).
